Information

OPREA Ovidiu Cristian has been active in POLITEHNICA Bucharest since 1997. He defended his Ph.D. thesis in 2006. He has been a Professor since 2013 at National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest, Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnologies, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry Department. He is the author of over 240 research papers, published in ISI journals. Of these, 26 ISI papers have as subject synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles by different approaches (solvothermal, ionic liquids, precipitation, pyrosol, etc.) and its applications in drug delivery, wound dressing and various other biomedical applications, coatings, antimicrobial food packaging, preservation or photacatalysis. He is the author of a national patent and 12 patent applications. Of the 50 awards and special prizes received at international invention exhibitions, 23 are gold medals. He managed of 8 national, multiannual research projects and was member in other 40 national and international research projects. Main research areas are Biomaterials, Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology, and Unconventional synthesis methods of oxide nanoparticles, especially ZnO. The main training is in the domain of thermal analysis TG-DSC and FTIR, UV-Vis and PL spectrometry (https://eeris.eu/ERIF-2000-000N-1358).
