Vladimir Verner received his PhD in Tropical Agriculture in 2007 at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. Since 2005, he has been involved in various projects focused on tropical and development-oriented research in various countries (Peru, Indonesia, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan, Ethiopia, Zambia, Cameroon, Mongolia, and Senegal). His specialization includes resource and process economics, investment appraisal for agricultural projects, value chain promotion, and poverty alleviation strategies. Specifically, he works on the profitability and stability of tropical farming systems, local/Indigenous food systems, technology assessment, adoption of sustainable/resilient practices (incl. climate change), agrobiodiversity conservation and use (incl. non-timber forest products, homegardens, and local plant species), and market chains. As a consultant, he worked for FAO, UNDP, IFAD, and the EC.
