Prof. Amadou Thierno Gaye

Amadou Thierno Gaye was the Director General of Research, Senegal, from November 2016 to August 2020. He has also held the following positions: • Director of the Ecole Superieure Polytechnique (ESP) (2015-2017). • Director of the Doctoral School on Water and Climate in UCAD (March 2014-March 2017). • Director of the LPAO-SF (November 2002-2015). • Member of WMO/WCRP/GEWEX SSG (2007-2012). • Lead Author in IPCC Assessment Reports 4, AR4. • Co-Chair of the African Committee (CSAM) of AMMA (2002-2010). • Co-chair of Climate Research for Development (CR4D) of the UN Economic Commission for Africa and AMCOMET (African Ministerial Commission on Meteorology) since 2016. • Co-chair of the Vulnerability and Adaptation Group of the Senegal Climate Change Committee. • Co-chair of the International Joint Laboratory ECLAIRS (Environment-Climate in Africa and Regional Impact and Climate Services) (2012-2017). • Head of the Department of Computer Sciences,, Ecole Supérieure Polytechnique, UCAD (2008- 2012). • Research scientist at the Laboratoire de Physique de l’Atmosphère et de l’Océan Siméon Fongang of UCAD since 1990.
