Dr. Francisco Javier Pavón-Morón received his B.Sc. in 1999 and Ph.D. in 2006 at the University of Málaga. He is the Principal Investigator of and is responsible for Translational Research at Área del Corazón/Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery Department—Hospital Universitario Virgen de la Victoria de Málaga, Spain. He works at the Biomedical Research Institute of Malaga and Platform in Nanomedicine (IBIMA Plataforma BIONAND). Previous institutions: FIMABIS, The Scripps Research Institute, and Red de Trastornos Adictivos. His research interests include the characterization of inflammatory signalling systems associated with addiction, stress, and other cardiovascular risk factors. The final goal is the identification of biomarkers and therapeutic targets based on molecular signals such as chemokines, cytokines, and endocannabinoids.
