Dr. Josep Antoni Tur is a Professor of Physiology at the Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB), the Director of the Research Group on Community Nutrition and Oxidative Stress UIB, integrated into CIBEROBN (Physiopathology of Obesity and Nutrition) of the Institute of Health Carlos III, Spain, and in the Health Research Institute of the Balearic Islands, and the Academician of the Royal Spanish Academy of Pharmacy of the Spanish Academy of Nutrition and Food Sciences, and the Royal Academy of Pharmacy of Catalonia. In addition, he was a Member of the Scientific Committee of the Spanish Agency of Consumption, Food Safety and Nutrition. His research activity has focused on the fields of community nutrition, nutritional epidemiology, physical activity and oxidative stress, antioxidants, and designer foods, as well as the Mediterranean diet and the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
