Management of a process assumes the availability of metrics to reflect its status. During road freight transportation, nowadays various sensors provide you with a full picture of what is happening with the vehicle and freight. Accordingly, in case of deviation from the specified transportation parameters, the company's CEO can exercise his/her management to adjust the transportation process. However, the influence of the human factor on the reliability of transportation is still considerable. So, methods and approaches are required to assess actions and business activities of personnel quickly and efficiently. It is currently relevant for the transportation process not only to collect data on driver behavior, but also to deeply analyze the behavior of operators of the fleet management information system.

Within the framework of post-industrial development in the motor industry a new management culture based on corporate values is stimulating change in the system of engineering education. In the evolution of the vehicle servicing businesses, second level higher education graduates, (masters of Engineering) are often employed as line managers. The results of a multi-panel academic study involving stakeholders indicated the need for masters program graduates to be actively engaged in the development of corporate culture and training production staff. This highlighted a new competence for line manager which has previously not given adequate focus – training as a part of operational management activities. This is an innovative feature of the Engineer masters Program training process. This article analyzes the curriculum for teaching corporate culture to production personnel. It also specifies the role of a facilitator to replace an expert teacher and formulates the academic problem of teaching specific didactic tools appropriate for corporate culture development to masters students.

The introduction of digital solutions in the automotive industry is often accompanied by a significant gap between the expectations and needs of the leaders of transport and logistics companies and the real business results achieved through the Transportation Management System. The causes of this phenomenon largely depend on the human factor, i.e. irrational actions of personnel who inefficiently use digital technology. The prerequisites for such actions are low competencies of employees, unfair attitude to work, sabotage. Accordingly, this leads to deviations in the transportation process, which can lead to violations of the conditions for the transportation of goods. From the point of view of the concept of reliability of road freight transport, this can be defined as a failure. Failures caused by the varied actions of managers when working with the Transportation Management System were extremely difficult to diagnose. Direct monitoring of managers during the working day is often fraught with various organizational difficulties, and is difficult to implement for a long time to identify ineffective staff activities. The concept of Process Mining, which has been known among scientists and researchers of information systems for more than 10 years, is currently of great interest in business. The paper examined the issues of improving and reorganizing the activities of managers of a transport company based on the mining of the TMS Autobase event log. Based on the results of the study, recommendations were made aimed at developing the digitalization of the transportation process, suggesting an increase in transportation reliability.

With the wide variety of information systems and applications for motor transport and transport logistics control we have today, one may think we are already living in the digital era of general welfare, and digital tools would easily ensure sustainable development and prosperity of businesses. However, the experience of deployment and introduction of such solutions shows that their value for transport business is significantly lower than expected. Moreover, in some projects, business performance of transport companies had no correlation with introduction of information systems. In the best-case scenario, they provided for a slight decrease in document flow transaction costs. The change of the strategic status of a company in the transportation service market is a fairly complicated task, which, as analysis of literary sources shows, is achievable for few enterprises, primarily small and medium-sized businesses. Such situations show that information solutions were introduced without analyzing or assessing the business models of certain companies which could be used a basis for digital landscape of business as a whole. In recent years, the basic concept of forming a single information space of an enterprise has been the enterprise architecture. It provided for coordination between all the business processes in order to achieve a company’s strategic goals. The fundamentals of the concept were developed by J. Zachman in his famous Zachman Framework, and it was later developed with numerous models of enterprise architecture (e.g., TOGAF (Department of Defense Architecture Framework), GERAM (Generalised Enterprise Reference Architecture and Methodology), DoDAF (Department of Defense Architecture Framework)). However, currently some researchers note that sustainable corporate development should stem not only from a “correct assembly” of all its business elements, which was the purpose of enterprise architecture, but also from the interaction of these elements when reaching the emergence effect. In this context, one should pay attention to comprehensive activity analysis of a transport and logistics business using ontological and architecture approaches.

Engineering and technical progress is transforming the automotive industry rapidly. Conformance of professional competencies of college graduates to the requirements of the regional industry is seen as the main competitive advantage at the regional labor market. Both the business and engineering academic communities recognize the importance and stand ready for continual actualization of educational objectives. An important (from both theoretical and practical standpoints) question is the form of presentation of training results declared by a higher education institution for the purpose of assessing its relevance by the business community. Using the CDIO Syllabus architecture as the basis of a structured system for polling representatives of the industry and the academic community of the region, i.e. the two main stakeholders, certain information was obtained for updating educational objectives of automotive engineering undergraduate programs. The study conducted made it possible to distinguish and detail value and target-based opinions of respondents, as well as to evaluate, in absolute and relative terms, the level of relevancy of a graduate's competencies declared by a college.

Specifics of airport ground vehicle management in Russia lie in the fact that their operation is strictly regulated by the national legislation. In all these cases, we may distinguish between the conditions of the transportation process organization and the requirements of normative legal documents. This stipulates the use of special standards and rules for fuel consumption calculation and a certain document flow. The systems of higher functionality help solve the problems of planning and accounting of the transportation operation, technical maintenance and repair, consumption of spare parts, fuel and tires. A highly important TMS class embraces the software products intended for planning, organizing and accounting the work of motor transportation businesses. This paper considers TMS “Autobase” of our development which facilitates accounting of ramp vehicle operation and maintenance. Depending on the conditions of their transport activity, their architecture may be formed on a modularity basis, increasing the functional features to the required limits and creating complex TMS system. The TMS “Autobase” implements the tasks of keeping records of repairs and reserve vehicles, cost analysis; it presents more than 300 reports, OLAP applications.

The transport activities at a large industrial enterprise are usually an auxiliary process. Therefore, its optimization with information technologies is often neglected. As a result, the cost accounting for the transportation of goods for various purposes is often a weighty problem due to inconsistent information flows. The method considered in this article combines the ontological and architectural approaches for the enterprise activities modeling intended to equalize occasionally a somewhat significant gap between business expectations and TMS functionality.

The rapid development of information technologies and their widespread use in various sectors of the economy, including transportation, have led to a massive growth in data flows. However, the paradox of our time is that this data is not used to its full potential to provide companies with powerful impetus for their development. This is especially true at the strategic level, where company executives still mostly make decisions without relying on the recommendations of business intelligence systems. In the management of road transport, this phenomenon can be attributed to the fragmentation of data sources and the vague understanding of the relationships between them. This is also partially due to the diversity in opinions in the expert community on the efficiency of the transport processes. Thus, it is obvious that, without deciding on how to measure efficiency, it is hard to say where the data for calculations should be acquired from and what should be the architecture of a decision support system. Note that the diversity of data sources in the digital age creates prerequisites for various metrics that highlight different aspects of the transportation process.

The export supplies of metal products represent one of the traditional areas of specialization of Russia in the international trade relations. The feature of such deliveries is the dependence of the contract price on the chosen method of transportation of the delivered products to foreign partners. An important aspect is to ensure the reliability of transportation. The authors of the article proposed a new criterion for the total costs presented, allowing to take into account the direct costs of transportation and losses due to a decrease in the turnover of cash with an increase in delivery time. A mathematical model for evaluating the reliability of transportation is presented and calculations are performed. Attention is paid to the construction of the information platform for the analysis of transport and technological schemes and to ensure the interaction of transportation participants. The formation of a single information space and the provision of semantic compatibility in data exchange based on the ontological approach are recommended. The approach proposed by the authors of the article is used to compare the three main competing options for transporting metal products from Russia to Germany. It has been established that multimodal transportation using rail, sea and road transport is most preferable.

The purpose of research is to determine the areas and justify why the use of the lean concept in these areas can provide improved performance of road transport at industrial enterprises. The research methods included: observation, collection, and analysis of statistical data, expert survey, modeling a transportation system, developing indicators for evaluating the efficiency of transportation losses elimination. An analytical review showed that in lean transportation, the first steps in scientific research aimed at adapting the principles of lean production to road transport operation are being taken. The research revealed the existence of at least sixteen types of transportation losses. This fact differs significantly from the results of the losses research in the industry. An expert survey to analyze the losses is used. The Delphi method is used to identify the causal chains of factors leading to the loss generation. To evaluate the mutual impact of causes, a quantitative assessment is performed. This leads to a significant acceleration in the work aimed at improving the operations of road transport that provides services to industrial enterprises. The “black box” model of the transportation system allowed identifying the resources of the transportation process participants as inputs. There are two other groups of input factors: cargo characteristics and external environment impact. The output characteristics of the model include transportation volume and its quality indicators. A differentiation of the spent resources into useful costs, which are used for cargo transportation, and losses, which are proposed to estimate using cost indicators, was provided.

The use of information technologies for the automotive transport and logistics management has opened game-changing opportunities for business, providing solutions to critical problems of sustainable development in turbulent environments. Today, the data for transport operations can be processed and used for the managerial decision-making, actually, on-line. However, despite abundance of TMSs on the market, many transport companies use them for solving operating management problems only. There are also lots of companies which do not use TMSs at all. Practice shows that managers of numerous transport companies have a little idea of how the records management data can be transformed into the awareness of improving efficiency of the transportation process. In our opinion it may be explained by the fact that different management levels use the knowledge from various domains, such as transport, IT, economic, and financial areas. Accordingly, the transformation of contemporaneous data into the managerial decisions requires an approach which is discussed in this paper using an example of introduction of TMS fuel consumption information subsystem.

The article addresses the ontological approach to the modeling of transport companies with the use of the Osterwalder business model canvas and Zachman framework for enterprise architecture for the purpose of creating a system of cargo transportation reliability management. The article includes mathematical models for the evaluation of transportation process reliability, that can be used to create corresponding modules in information management systems. The use of the methods for evaluating and ensuring transportation reliability based on the modeling of business processes is especially important for improving the competitiveness of transport enterprises in an unstable economic environment.

At present, the effective management of logistics to some extent provides tangible benefits in the development of any business. Under current conditions, the inventory transactions are inextricably related to the information streams. Moreover, data are circulated not only within the corporate information ERP-systems, but also generated in other material objects, which include vehicles and various equipment for road infrastructure. This gives an opportunity to control the operation of commercial and public transport, and logistical operations online. Thus, the main trend of information CSMsystems development considered in this article is the increasing "intellectualization" that is just in the beginning of its practical application in enterprises practical activity.
