Dr. Luis A. Moreno has been a University Professor at the University of Zaragoza since May 2012. He obtained a bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1982 and a PhD in Medicine and Surgery in December 1987. He holds Diplomas in “Human Nutrition, Dietetics and Therapeutic Dietetics” and in “Public Health and Community Health”, both from the University of Nancy (France), granted in 1989 and 1993, respectively. He obtained his first appointment at the University of Zaragoza, as an associate professor, in September 1994. He has been a Visiting Professor of Excellence at the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil) since 2011 and has been an associate member of the Johns Hopkins Global Center on Childhood Obesity (Baltimore, USA). He is a member of numerous scientific societies, such as the Spanish Association of Pediatrics, the Spanish Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, and the European Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, among others. He has been a member of the Nutrition Committees of the European Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) and the Spanish Association of Pediatrics (AEP). He has been a Fellow of the International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS) since 2013. His line of research focuses on the study of different aspects related to childhood obesity, such as its epidemiology, epidemiological genetics, behaviors related to energy balance, body composition, prevention, and treatment.
