Water and water management, which also includes wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), are considered essential elements critical infrastructure. A disruption of their operation can result in the discharge of wastewater into the environment without having been adequately treated. This can cause health problems, contamination of soil, groundwater and surface water, etc. In order to provide operational safety and sustainability of WWTP operation, it is necessary to establish protection against potential risk activation, together with risk minimization and enhanced preparedness to address the risks. The article deals with the application of risk management stages on the selected object of the municipal WWTP facility in the form of a case study. The risk identification phase consisted of the identification of assets and risks. The assets were grouped together due to the complexity of the WWTP operation. A combination of methods, a safety audit, a checklist and semi-structured interviews were used to identify the risks in three iterations. A risk register was created as a result of the risk identification phase. Subsequently, a risk analysis was carried out, in which the scenarios of the risk impact on the assets were examined, the index levels of probability and impacts were determined, and the risk estimate was performed. The Bowtie Analysis Method was used to illustrate the causes and consequences for one of the critical risks. The result of the study is the risk evaluation identified undesirable and unacceptable risks for which risk management methods were proposed

Establishing business continuity management (BCM) creates the basis of every organization’s strategy. BCM includes complex procedures that help solving unexpected situations of natural and anthropogenic nature (e.g. fire or flood). Planning of the BCM is a process that helps organizations identify critical processes and implement plans for securing and restoring key processes. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the application of a systemic approach to BCM known as Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) into the military field. This article describes the life cycle of the BCMS, which is based on PDCA cycle. Subsequently it is applied to the activities carried out by the University of Defence during activation of forces and means in the frame of the Integrated Rescue System (IRS) in case of emergency - an accident in a nuclear power plant in the Czech Republic. Activities in various stages of deployment of allocated forces and means are managed and evaluated using the Military Continuity Management System (MCMS) application.

Paper deals with requirement engineering that is used in the first phase of project SIMEX (Research and development of simulation tools for training cooperation of actors in emergencymanagement by subjects of critical infrastructure. Project SIMEX focuses on the development of simulation tools and instruments for common interoperability training of crisis staff managers, security advice bodies and liaison safety employees in the energy sector with the integrated rescue system in dealing with emergencies and their consequences. This paper also deals with the analysis of different national systems providing publicly available information and evaluates the usability and benefits of implementation of information generated into simulation tool.
