The article presents applications of systems with power electronic converters, high voltage transformers, and discharge chambers used for nonthermal, dielectric barrier discharge plasma treatment of a plastic surface and decontamination of organic loose products. In these installations, the inductance of the high voltage transformers and the capacitances of the electrode sets form resonant circuits that are excited by inverters. The article presents characteristic features of the installations and basic mathematical relationships as well as the impact of individual parameters of system components. These converters with their output installations were designed, built, and tested by the authors. Some of the converters developed by the authors are manufactured and used in the industry.

The article presents the results of testing the internal resistance changes of the lead-acid battery as a function of accumulated charge. In order to measure the internal resistance, a short current pulses of a given value at specified time intervals were forced in the battery. The internal series resistance of the battery equivalent circuit was determined as the quotient of the measured voltage jump to the value of the current pulse. The measurements were carried out in time windows of a given length. The experiment showed that the internal resistance during discharging is monotonically variable in relation to the remaining charge in the battery and this method can be used to estimation the state of charge of the battery. In contrast, during loading, no such dependence is observed.

The article describes the phenomena occurring in the Half-Wave Cockcroft-Walton voltage multiplier when it is supplied through a transformer by an inverter with a rectangular shape of output voltage. The frequency of the inverter output voltage was selected so that a series resonant phenomena occurs in the system. They are caused by the presence of voltage multiplier capacitors and transformer leakage inductances. In the article the characteristics and waveforms of voltages and currents obtained by simulations are presented. The results of simulations were used to build two prototypes with maximum powers of about 60 W and 160 W and a 40 kV output voltage.

In this paper the theory and simulation results of the series resonant inverter / converter are presented. In this work the authors carried out a detailed comparative analysis of results obtained using the method of AC analysis in the steady state for the first harmonic with the results of computer simulation. The AC analysis under certain conditions can lead to errors disqualifying this method. In particular, these errors appear by low quality factor of resonant circuit, pulsed, discontinuous load current, switching frequency significantly different from the resonance. It was also shown that the coefficient for transforming the resistor behind the rectifier into the equivalent resistor in AC circuit may vary substantially from the values known from the literature.

A novel approach to the voltage source inverters (VSI) construction is presented in the paper. The invented inverter structures allow to operate several DC/AC converters in parallel resulting in lower voltage distortions at extremely low switching frequency. The research presented in the paper describes such a parallel operation of the VSI's which is possible thanks to the use of coupled inductors. The eighteen-pulse three-level converter was validated by the simulation and the prototype tests and the results of the examination are presented in the paper.

In this paper the theory and experimental results of the Contactless Power Supply (CPS) system are presented. The system comprises of an input rectifier, an inverter with a rotary transformer connected to his output and an output rectifier. To the output of the inverter are connected capacitors, which form resonant circuits with the inductances of the transformer. Transistors in the inverter are in a soft switching mode: ZVS and simultaneously almost ZCS. The research was carried out for different lengths of air gap between the parties of the transformer and for different smoothing filters capacity in the input and output of the system.

This article describes the parallel resonant inverter with the auxiliary AC/DC converter that limits commutation overvoltage and enables the energy of parasitic inductances to be returned to the feeding circuit. The use of the auxiliary AC/DC converter enables the connection of the HF transformer between the inverter output and a parallel resonant circuit as well as the operation of the inverter in the frequency range, ensuring ZVS type switching. The efficiency of the system was also improved.
