The Circular Economy (CE) is a proposal for new, more sustainable and durable economy model. As consequence, of this pro-environmental economic model induces visible changes on the labor market which are Green Jobs (GJ). This paper is focused on the creation of Green Jobs in the CE. The GJ are most visible in the Environmental Goods and Services Sector (EGSS). This study aims to investigate EGSS among 28 European Union countries in years 2009–2019. The adopted method was literature research complemented by the statistical analysis of secondary data from Eurostat in the linear regression method. Then, some Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their measure were used as main indicators reflecting changes on the labor market. Results are presented as a model indicating which of the SDGs can support CE and enhance number of the ‘Green Jobs’. Presented results contribute to the science, because combine factors influencing GJ creation in EGSS, in CE perspective. This study underlines a lack of uniform methods for measuring and forecasting the effects of green jobs creation and indicate future research directions.

Companies that belong to the energy sector can use Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for their strategies and diversify electrical energy production with reverence to the natural environment. This article aims to analyze sustainability strategy types among the Visegrád Group (V4) countries’ energy producers, who decided to generate electrical energy from the renewable resources. This research uses an inductive inference approach supported by a literature study and deductive reasoning supported by a statistical reference method. The main finding is that the energy producers from the V4 group have a common direction of evolution in their strategies. This change is based on a growing share of renewable energy sources to achieve environmental excellence strategies. The lack of renewable energy sector organizations’ strategies translates into disappointment with the goals pursued by these organizations. The significance of this study lies in an explanation of how sustainability strategies compare at a firm and country-level in a proposed classification. The analysis can open future research areas to examine development of strategies in the renewable energy sector.

Management style and decision-making create an organization’s culture and influence its performance also in the pro-ecological dimension. Therefore, this paper’s originality lies in how it explores the effect of management style to inform our understanding of decision-making when using a sustainable approach. However, the cause-and-effect relations between decisions and management style remain vastly unexplored. The paper’s aim is to explore whether the management style serves as a basis for decision-making or if it is an effect of decisions. This research addresses a research question: is the management style a basis for decision-making or an effect of the decisions in a pro-ecological context? We used a comprehensive literature review by using inductive and deductive approaches to analyze the relations between decision-making and management style. The paper also illustrates how organizational culture images can inform accounts of business realities influencing organizations’ green strategies. The analogies followed relations between color symbol and guiding metaphor. The article presents a theoretical discussion on the influence of management style on decision-making in the organization, based on original literature research in pro-ecological strategy related decisions. As a result, a decision-making style model is proposed. This nonorthodox approach might open up new avenues of thought in the field of decision-making, management styles, and pro-ecological strategy. Theoretical and managerial implications and directions for future research are also addressed.

Gaining a competitive advantage assumes that a company should build a unique position, but this concept is related to a relatively stable environment. However, it is difficult to predict the consequences of the enterprises’ changes, leading to changes both in the business and natural environment. Therefore, this study’s authors asked a research question: Is it possible to restore a balance between durability and variability of the organization in terms of strategy? The answer to such a question was drawn upon the literature review and survey research. This paper presents a qualitative and quantitative model of competitive advantage in a changing business environment. This article uses an inductive inference method supported by a literature study and a deduction method supported by statistical calculations, based on a survey conducted among 150 Polish companies in different economic sectors. As a result of the research methods, a dualistic competitive advantage model in a changing environment was proposed and discussed. The article’s aim was achieved in the model combining a sustainable (SCA) and temporary competitive advantage (TCA). Understanding the conditions for gaining competitive advantage allowed to formulate general conditions under which sustainable strategic management can be built to consider sustainability objectives and contribute to the green economy. This research has confirmed that building a competitive advantage in unstable conditions requires finding a balance between implementing the planned development strategy and using new opportunities.

Cloud technology providers differ from each other not only by the level of their computing cloud abstraction level but also by different computing environment conditions. The most efficient, one-use verification scheme is a hash-based function scheme that processes the entire single file per single-use. Data possession verification schemes are feasible even on mobile devices. One solution for single-use would be to delegate cyclical verification to a private server or other cloud computing. Response times to challenges can be used as proof of having resources such as computing power. Due to the powerful computing and storage, high availability and security, easy accessibility and adaptability, reliable scalability and interoperability, cost and time effective cloud computing is the top, needed for the current fast-growing business world. This work provides classification, which may help to survey of several existing cloud computing services developed by various projects globally such as Amazon, Google, Azure, Open Stack and Eucalyptus. Similarities and differences in the architecture approaches of cloud computing were identified in this chapter.

This article considers intertwined issues relating to the green economy, protected areas, green jobs, and the Environmental Goods and Services Sector (EGSS). The article discusses the most common approaches towards greening economies, all these being based on the concept of sustainable development, and presents an analysis of how green jobs can be used to address the issue of unemployment among young people in Poland, the Czech Republic and Belgium. Data were compared for selected groups in the European Classification of Economic Activities (NACE). It is observed that in both Poland and Belgium around 15% of young people find their first employment in the green jobs sector, but in the Czech Republic, the proportion is far lower (1.83%). It is concluded that an increasing emphasis on building the green economy provides excellent employment opportunities for young people seeking their first job.

Green jobs, although defined differently, are created in various sectors of the economy. This is because many organizations strive to implement the idea of a green economy. Some sectors of the economy are conducive to the direct creation of green jobs, others distinguish skills and actions that can indirectly contribute to the creation of green employment. The purpose of this study is to analyze green jobs compared to Industry 4.0. Changes towards a green economy coincide with the fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0), which supports green governance. The style of common fields set by green jobs and Industry 4.0 comes to the synergy effect, which is manifested in the practical actions presented in the chapter. Smart cities are a special case, where green infrastructure is developing to support electromobility and reduce the effects of anthropopressure.

The green management is one of many propositions of the actions required for adopting the new more sustainable and durable models of the economy which lead to the green economy. This kind of management can be observed on the different levels of economy, national and regional. Its assessment can be based on secondary data collected from the companies and presented by the national statistical offices. The chapter presents the idea of green management in the regional development context. This chapter aims to examine the role of green management in the context of sustainable development and use quantitative tools to solve contemporary problems of green management from the perspective of modern economics. In the first part of this chapter, green management as an element of the green economy is discussed. Next, to the quantitative, a qualitative—descriptive method was used. Therefore, this paper attempts to provide a basic overview of the concept of green management at the introductory level, which contributes to green job creation.

This article discusses the importance of the financial system stability and em¬phasises the risks in the contemporary environment of enterprises. Financial systems, with their opportunities and threats, have a tremendous impact on economic growth. Therefore, enterprises have to measure the risks coming from their external environment. The aim of this paper is to analyse historical data related to financial risks and to propose a new tool based on well-known solutions. The literature review and historical data analysis are the main methods used in this paper. The global financial stability map can be implemented as one of many tools of assessing risk, with some modifications.

The aim of this article is to propose a measurable definition of green jobs based on balanced, durable and sustainable development, which is an example of both the Green Economy and New Public Management (NPM) concepts. This approach is justified due to the nature of NPM, which uses the goals of management and measures of effectiveness. In this paper, the definition of green jobs is formulated as tool for measuring, based on the Polish Classification of Activities (PKD), which has roots in the classifications proposed by UN the ISIC and Eurostat NACE. Then the ease with which this tool can be used is tested by determining the efficiency of labour market institutions. Therefore, the green jobs concept can be much wider than just a qualitative description of an organisation’s strategy. In this paper it is proposed that green job characteristics based on section E of PKD is more specific and because of its quantitative approach it is a suitable measurement not only in Polish conditions, but generally.

European integration is a multidimensional process, which can be seen both in economic and innovations aspects. The growth of importance of digitalization and smart cities development can be analyzed as a factor of European integration. A significant number of smart cities, which may be connected in a network, is located in Western Europe. This article reflects on searching for European Integration conditions as was as for turning points in digitalization process. It is intended to draw attention to several issues related to European Integration, which are crucial from the vantage point of Europe’s prospective development. Location of smart cities and their networks indicates on weak innovation capacity and development disparities in some member countries of European Union. Therefore, smart cities can be also an indicator of European integration process but their wider cooperation can create new solutions for developing regions of European Union.

The Financial Liquidity Investment Efficiency Model (FLIEM) was presented and discussed by Michalski (Value-based working capital management: determining liquid asset levels in entrepreneurial environments. Palgrave Macmillan, 2014). Here the Cash Levels in Full Operating Cycle (CLFOC) is proposed as a FLIEM remodelling. Some external factors resulting from the economic situation surrounding the enterprise were pointed out in this paper. These factors interact with the operating cycle of the overall firm operational risk which is reflected in the level of cash held. These are so called environmental conditions we should take into account during considering a model of cash holdings in the full operating cycle firm. The aim of the study was to determine the rules governing the modern cash management in small and medium firms with a full operating cycle with a particular emphasis on environmental conditions influencing firms. At the core of the research hypothesis is the belief that the level of cash and cash management policies in the firm in an integrated manner with other elements resulting from the operating cycle, contribute to moderating the risk of the firm and it can be shown using empirical data from enterprises operating effectively in practical business.
