Dr. Bonnie L. Gray is a Professor of Engineering Science (ENSC) at Simon Fraser University (SFU), former ENSC Graduate Program Chair, and an elected member of University Senate. Dr. Gray is an Associate Member of SFU Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology, and on the Vancouver Medical Device Development Centre Advisory Board. Dr. Gray has 3 issued patents; 4 invited book chapters; and over 140 peer-reviewed journal and conference publications, including 25 invited and keynote papers. Dr. Gray is a dedicated mentor and received the 2014 SFU Dean of Graduate Studies Award for Excellence in Supervision. Dr. Gray was Chapter Chair for the Vancouver IEEE Electron Devices Society from 2007-2017, and organizer of two Mini-Colloquia (2012, 2017). She chairs the SPIE Conf. on Microfluidics, BioMEMS, & Medical Microsystems (2014-2023); was member of the IEEE MEMS Conf. Program Committee (2020, 2021); on the International Advisory Committee for the 2019 IEEE Nanotechnology Materials & Devices Conference (NMDC); and Publicity Chair for the 2021 IEEE NMDC. Her current research interests include development and application of novel materials and fabrication techniques to biomedicine and microfluidics; development of flexible and wearable microfluidic and biosensor technologies; point-of-care instruments; chip-based biological cell sorting and trapping methods; wearable devices for opioid overdose detection; electrochemical detection of SARS-CoV2; and self-decontaminating textiles and PPE.
