The selection of steaming speed is one of the main strategic decisions for ship operators under highly uncertain conditions. Speed reductions are of great benefit to the economy and environment in shipping operations. Since the inappropriate choice of steaming speed levels brought about a substantial financial and environmental impact on organisations, it is crucial to make precise decisions in the implementation of different levels of steaming speed. However, given its significance, the right pace of steaming for ship tankers benefiting the economy and the environment is still under investigation. Therefore, this study is undertaken to determine the most suitable steaming speed for chemical tankers under unpredictable operating conditions. To address this issue, an evaluation model based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Technique for Order Performance by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is developed. The result indicates that extra slow steaming is the most acceptable steaming speed employing an integrated approach. This study envisages that the steaming speed of a ship can be considered as one of the strategies for a shipping company to reap financial and environmental benefits.

The increase in customer complaints on the reliability of 3PL services among online sellers has become prominent in the industry, as confirmed by 3PL service providers in Malaysia. The increase in customer complaints increases the tendency to switch to other 3PL service providers. As Asian markets lead the growth of e-commerce, covering approximately 50% of the global e-commerce market, whether the customer will continue to shop online or not is no longer the issue. Although having the proper logistics provider to support online sellers’ business is crucial, most studies have focused on the online shopper’s perspective and employ the service quality theory. Observably, the satisfaction and reuse intention of the 3PL from the online retailer’s perspective is largely neglected. This study identified the factors influencing the satisfaction and reuse intention of 3PL services among online sellers in Malaysia by employing and expanding the stimulus–organism–response (SOR) theory. A purposive sampling method was employed, and the data were gathered via an online survey among online sellers. Additionally, smart partial least squares (SmartPLS) was applied to test the hypotheses. The results indicated that reliability had a positive effect on satisfaction, and satisfaction had a positive relationship with the reuse intention of certain 3PL services. Moreover, satisfaction mediated the relationship between reliability and reuse intention, whereas price fairness strengthened the positive relationship between satisfaction and reuse intention. The findings enhance studies that employed the SOR theory, particularly relating to online sellers’ behaviour on 3PL services. The findings also benefit online sellers and 3PL service providers to create attractive marketing strategies for business sustainability.

This study developed a framework of the self-identity-based electric product adoption model to comprehend air travelers’ intentions to adopt eco-friendly electric airplanes. Through a quantitative process and survey method, our analysis revealed that the model satisfactorily accounted for the travelers’ eco-friendly airplane adoption intentions. The model comprised the concepts of green self-identity, care for environmental consequences, green moral obligation, attitude, and anticipated feelings. Moreover, we extended the model by considering the moderating impact of perceived risks. Overall, this study successfully provided a sufficient understanding of travelers’ eco-friendly technology product adoption behaviors in the airline context.

Muslim tourism is one of the most rapidly developing sectors in the international tourism industry. Nevertheless, halal food performance and its relationship with international Muslim traveler decision-making and behaviors have not been sufficiently examined. The present research explored the influence of halal food performance, which encompasses availability, health/nutrition, accreditation, and cleanness/safety/hygiene factors, on the Muslim traveler retention process at a non-Islamic destination. A survey methodology with a quantitative data analytic approach was employed to achieve research goals. Our findings indicated that halal food performance increased destination trust and destination attachment, which in turn influenced Muslim traveler retention. Additionally, the efficacy of the higher-order framework of halal food performance was defined. Both destination trust and attachment mediated the effect of halal food performance on retention. A halal-friendly destination image included a moderating influence on the retention process. The effectiveness of the proposed theoretical framework for explicating Muslim traveler behaviors was uncovered. This research better introduces the importance of halal food performance and its attributes for the elicitation of Muslim traveler approach responses and behaviors at a non-Islamic destination to researchers and practitioners.

Volunteer tourism, which is commonly referred to as voluntourism, is currently a dynamic alternative travel option with a focus on sustainable tourism. However, existing literature reveals that voluntourism activities do not meet tourists’ expectation, fail to provide experiences related to environmental issues, and thus, leads to their dissatisfaction. Realising the importance of the satisfaction of the voluntourists’ future behaviour, applying the volunteer function inventory, coupled with environmental concern, the authors aim to identify factors influencing voluntourists’ satisfaction and present the outcomes of voluntourists’ satisfaction among island visitors in Malaysia. Using a purposive sampling method, the data were collected through a survey among voluntarists in east coast island tourist destinations. A total of 278 valid questionnaires were gathered from two sessions of data collection process. Due to the model’s complexity, SEM-PLS version 3.3.2. was employed to analyse the hypotheses of the study. The results of the study revealed that career and social functions, in contrast with other variables, do not positively influence the voluntourists’ satisfaction. The continuous intention and the intention to recommend factors positively support the research model. Studies on voluntourists in Malaysian island destinations are relatively novel. Besides enriching the literature on voluntourism, which is particularly scarce especially in the Asian setting, the findings are also beneficial to local governments and voluntourism organisations to develop suitable approaches and policies to promote voluntourism in island destinations. The study is limited to the island destination setting. Future studies should focus on other destinations such as cultural and heritage sites, because these destinations have sentimental values that should be preserved.

As Muslims bound to Islamic teachings, the attitude of young millennials preferring non-halal international cosmetics is trivial. Despite the acceptance of halal food, literature on the acceptance of halal cosmetics remains scarce. The intention to purchase halal cosmetics is crucial for the sustainability of halal cosmetics manufacturers. The authors used the theory of planned behavior to identify factors influencing the purchase intention of halal cosmetics among Muslim millennials. Since cosmetics are not exclusively used by females, as males are starting to use them in their daily lives, gender was incorporated into the framework to assess its moderating effect on the relationship. Furthermore, brand image was included in the theory of planned behavior. Data were collected from three universities in Malaysia. A total of 501 responses were analyzed with smart partial least squares to run a multigroup analysis. The analysis revealed that subjective norms have a stronger effect on females, and perceived behavioral control has a greater effect on males. Although attitude and brand image have a positive effect on the intention to purchase halal cosmetics, gender has no effect. The findings are essential for halal cosmetics manufacturers to craft a marketing strategy aimed at Muslim millennials in Malaysia.

The present research was an empirical endeavor to build a sturdy theorization linking trust in supervisor and co-worker supports, emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, reduced personal accomplishment, and hotel employee turnover at workplace. A quantitative approach and survey methodology were utilized. This research successfully explored the intricate associations between trust-in-support factors and burnout dimensions and uncovered the possible influence of such relationships on employee turnover in the hotel context. In addition, emotional exhaustion and reduced personal accomplishment among burnout constituents significantly affected turnover. These variables also strengthened the influence of trust in supervisor support on hotel employee turnover, acting as significant mediators. A salient role of emotional exhaustion in escalating employee turnover was unearthed. Overall, this research demonstrated the importance of trust in support and its role in reducing the burnout phenomenon among hotel employees and explaining their voluntary turnover decision formation in a satisfactory manner.

Green hotels help protect the environment by performing various environmentally friendly practices. This study examines the reason constructs to provide unique insights on consumers’ motivational mechanisms in green hotel patronage intention. This study aims to investigate altruism value, reasons for patronage and reasons against patronage as predictors of green hotel patronage intention. This study also examines the mediating effect of both reasons in the relationship between altruism and green hotel patronage intention. The usable data of 262 respondents were collected through the distribution of questionnaire in the Klang Valley, Malaysia. The results demonstrated that both reasons for and reasons against patronage have a significant influence on green hotel patronage intention. Reasons for patronage were also found to be a mediator between altruism and green hotel patronage intention. This study also shows that altruism value significantly predicts green hotel patronage intention and reasons for patronage. Thus, green hoteliers should target potential altruistic consumers and stimulate altruistic values of people. In addition, they should strengthen the reasons for patronage and address the reasons against patronage so that consumers see more value in patronising green hotels.

The banking sector has evolved in information technology for their internal and external business operations. In effect, user acceptance of internet banking is considered as one of the most fundamental issue in banking sector. In order to identify which factors affect user intention to adopt internet banking, this study develops an amalgamated model based on technology and social psychological literature. The research model was empirically tested using 398 responses from customers of commercial banks. Data was analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The results of this study provided theoretical and empirical support for newly developed integrated model. Importance performance matrix analysis (IPMA) revealed that assurance is the most influential factor among all others to determine user's intention to adopt internet banking. These findings provide valuable insight to marketers and managers to understand customer behavior towards adoption of technology, especially in emerging e-payment domain. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study that investigates internet banking adoption issues with integrated technology model (UTAUT & E-SQ) in South Asia. Finally the study calls for researchers to use current integrated model in other e-commerce domains such as online shopping websites to establish the external validity of the model.

Due to the increasing demand for Halal products, a need of adopting and implementing Halal Logistics (HL) practices are observed. This paper presents a structural model for barriers to adoption of HL practices with conventional logistics. Halal goods and services are becoming popular in public domain because of the improving disposable income of the masses. Another reason for this emergence as Halal appeals to the consumers who care about the origin of the product, fair trade, sustainability, cleanliness and humane animal husbandry, as Halal products are based on ideas of cleanliness, purity, safety and wholesomeness and set of ethical values. Through this paper, significant barriers to the adoption of HL practices in conventional logistics are identified which are instrumental in delivering consumables with Halal attributes. A structural and hierarchical model of the identified barriers is developed using Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) technique. Then, MICMAC analysis has been done to categorise these barriers against their driving and dependence power. We identified that the HL is not mandatory for the issuance of a Halal certificate for Halal manufacturers and this is the primary reason for the lack of demand. The structural model obtained, is in harmony with expert's opinion and literature, this model can help in mitigating these barriers towards effective adoption and implementation of HL practices and ultimately guarantee Halal integrity till consumption. The model so generated can be quite helpful in adopting and implementing HL practices. Through structural and hierarchical model this paper provides a basis for defining the problem faced by practitioner and policy planner involved in incorporating Halal practices in a logistics operation.

Halal transportation services enable Halal manufacturers to transport their products and maintain the Halal integrity. However, the adoption of Halal transport services in Malaysia is relatively low. This study employed the TOE framework to identify the factors that in?uence the adoption of Halal transport services by Halal pharmaceutical and cosmetic manufacturers. Data were gathered from 97 Halal manufacturers across Malaysia and analyzed using the Structural Equation Modelling approach to test the research model constructs. The findings showed that perceived benefits, customer and competitive pressure were significant factors in the adoption decision. Additionally, organizational readiness did not influence the adoption of Halal transportation.
