Dr. Ricardo Castedo is an Associate Professor at the Geological and Mining Engineering Department, School of Mines and Energy, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), Spain. He holds a BSc in Geological Engineering, an MSc in Teaching and Education (International University of La Rioja, Spain) and a PhD in Mining Engineering (UPM, Spain). He was awarded a Research Fellowship from 2009 to 2012 funded by the UPM, Spain. He has had four research stays at New Mexico Tech (USA), University of Leeds (UK), University of Windsor (Canada), and Politecnico di Torino (Italy). As an author and co-author, he has published more than 40 papers indexed in WoSCC and Scopus databases journals. As an associate or leader, he has participated in executing 36 scientific projects, of which he directed 5. He is the reviewer of more than 150 scientific articles for more than 15 international scientific journals and a member of the editorial board of Defence Technology and Applied Science. He is a member of technical committees of international scientific and professional organizations such as the International Association of Protective Structures. He has been an invited speaker at more than 10 national and international conferences and has presented his research at more than 50 national and international conferences. His research interests include everything related to explosives, structures, numerical modeling, geomorphology, and geotechnics.
