The development of modern cities is impossible without an increase in the number of construction projects implemented. However, in the conditions of limited spaces, local and national legal regulations, and logistic difficulties, their implementation is becoming a growing challenge. Construction supplies can pose a particular problem. Its planning, organization, and implementation have an impact not only on construction and assembly works, but also on the external environment of the construction site, of which traffic is an important element. The aim of the study was to analyze and answer the question of whether there is a connection between the implementation of construction supplies and the occurrence of road traffic hazards in cities on the example of Szczecin. In addition, the article aims to find solutions to reduce the number of road accidents and increase road safety. The conducted research also revealed the weak points of the system of collecting and analyzing data on road accidents. The research covered selected areas in the center of Szczecin, where construction projects have been implemented since 2016 and road accidents have occurred. The reference year is the year preceding the start of construction. The research on selected construction projects meeting the criteria, carried out in the article has shown that their implementation may have an impact on the level of safety in the areas adjacent to the construction site. However, the unequivocal statement of such relationship must be supported by extended research, covering a greater number of projects, additional consideration of the number of deliveries for supply purposes, and the characteristics of vehicles involved in road incidents.

The increase in the level of urbanisation is associated with the dynamics of changes taking place in the world. The literature on the subject described the contemporary structure of society as an information society or a knowledge society. Common access to information resources and participation in their acquisition affects the use of knowledge resources in industrial systems. The development of the information society determines the availability of ICT solutions. In the era of the information society, changes in expectations towards the urban transport system have become significant. The complexity of transport processes has made it necessary to use telematics systems to enable effective management. The main purpose of telematics solutions in road transport is to eliminate transport congestion. The European Union and the member states are taking action to solve transport problems. Due to the information revolution and globalisation, special attention is paid to ensuring safety for road users. Prevention of transport and industrial disasters was set as the goal of the transport system development. The effect of the aforementioned activities is interest in the Smart Cities concept. In recent years, much attention has been devoted to ensuring safety for road users, including the use of Smart City tools. In particular, innovations created for the needs of road vehicle users are noticed. Designing, producing and implementing technology supporting the safety of vulnerable road users, including pedestrians, is becoming a problem. Many European cities create original propositions of good practices in this area. The article reviews the existing solutions of Intelligent Transport Systems in the field of Smart City supporting pedestrian safety.

The Processes of Globalisation, mobility of the society, modernization of transport infrastructure, the desire to own means of transport contribute to the increased number of road vehicles and many transport problems. These include, above all, the occurrence of transport congestion, which in turn is the source of further problems of road transport systems. Environmental pollution, increased noise, occurring traffic hazards, difficult communication has a negative impact on the functioning of users of urban transport systems. In contrast to the increasing expectations of users of urban transport systems, systems supporting their safety and increasing the capacity of transport networks come out. One of the examples of the system is traffic lights. The implementation of this system allows for safer movement of individual road users, including pedestrians. The article discusses the problem of pedestrian safety in road traffic. The analysis of police statistical data on the number of accidents and their effects with the participation of pedestrians was presented. In addition, the results of research on the subjective assessment of pedestrian safety at road intersections using traffic lights are present-ed. The method of direct interview involving pedestrians as participants of road traffic was used.

In the article the stages of carrying out repairs and renovations of a coal-cutting machine on the construction of a normal type 401 Wb. The types of damage and fractures of the carbide elements de-scribed. Particularly described positions used to repair these defects. It is noticed that the thinnest types of damages of this type of carcass are: wear of the side walls and floor of the wagon through goods such as coal, scrap, ores; wear and failure of brake pads, fatigue cracks in the wagon supporting springs; wear and failure of bumpers; dis-placement of the wheel rim relative to the barefoot..

The article presents the concept of implementing a network of average speed measurements in the West Pomeranian. The author focused on solutions of Intelligent Transport Systems to improve the safety of road transport. The first part of the article discusses the state of road traffic safety in the West Pomeranian. In the next part, the solutions of Intelligent Transport Systems used to record the speed of road vehicles and the method of data recording and processing were discussed. In the third part, the accident maps and the locations of the stored sectional speed measurements were analysed, on the basis of which the proposition of places for the implementation of the network of average speed measurements was created due to the high accident rate.

Vulcanised rubber as a complex system is made from the basic component being virgin rubber and various components amounting to 10-15 per cent or even more. The material gains its most valuable properties in the final phase of processing i.e. vulcanisation. In mechanical as well as automotive engineering it is important for vulcanised rubber to be resistant to grease, oil and fuel in high operating temperatures. Being one of the very valuable isolation materials, vulcanised rubber is also characterised by dielectric and elastic properties as well as distinguished resistance to operating conditions (high/low temperature, weather conditions). All the above mentioned applications of vulcanised rubbers are also found in the shipyard industry. Their use is also very much predicated on the properties such as: ability to attenuate mechanical vibrations, high elasticity, considerable elastic deformability under static and dynamic loads, low permeability of water and gas, resistance to various chemicals, and other. The purpose of this article was to determine the hardness of vulcanised rubber samples obtained from various places on the “Izabel” inland barge. The scope of the study covered sampling and preparing the samples for testing (i.e. cleaning and degreasing the samples). Then, the hardness of the samples was measured using the Shore hardness test. The first part of the article presents the general concept of vulcanised rubber, its main components, properties, applications, and ageing. The second part focuses on the research scope and measuring the hardness of vulcanised rubber samples obtained from the “Izabel” inland barge.

Undertaking the subject of the application of telematic systems to improve the safety of road transport is caused by the increase of the mobility of the society, their transport needs, which in effect leads to the multiplication of the number of vehicles on the roads. The low level of construction of new roads and modernization of the existing ones is conducive to the occurrence of transport congestion, the number of accidents and road traffic difficulties, and has a negative impact on the natural environment. In the era of modern society, methods are sought that would minimize negative effects in the transport system, thereby increasing road safety. The purpose of this article is to analyse the use of Intelligent Traffic Light in the aspect of road safety. Traffic safety at intersections is reflected in indicators of dangerous situations with the participation of road users in its area. Hence, the selection of the research method and the place of the tests carried out. Implementation of telematic systems supports the construction of a secure road transport network. The authors of the article focused on the analysis of traffic hazards and their consequences in the form of wounded and dead people. In addition, the topic of safety in the road transport system was addressed very precisely, where it was discussed in terms of operation, economic, technical and environmental protection.
