Balázs Székely has been an interdisciplinary geoscientist (since 1989) and an associate professor (since 2010) at the Department of Geophysics and Space Science, ELTE, Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. He received a PhD in 2001 in geology from University of Tübingen, Germany, and a qualification in 2009 in earth sciences from ELTE, Budapest. He spent four semesters as an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow at TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany. His research areas include geomorphometry, tectonic geomorphology, surface processes modeling, GIS, laser scanning (lidar) and archaeometry. His teaching activity (BSc, MSc and PhD levels) include GIS, remote sensing and various practical applications. He is a member of the Doctoral School of Earth Sciences and the Doctoral School of Environmental Sciences of ELTE.
