Dr. Guillermo Martínez Pastur (October 31, 1965) is a Forest Engineer with a Master’s and Doctorate in Agronomy. Over the past 30 years, his research has focused on the management and conservation of natural forests in southern Patagonia, analyzing different scales at the landscape level to design new sustainable forest management practices. He is working at the Austral Centre of Scientific Research (CADIC) of the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), located in the southernmost city of the World (Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego). His work also includes studying forest community ecology, ecosystem functioning, species interactions and climate change. In recent years, he has particularly focused on landscape ecology and the provision of ecosystem services from local (stand) to regional scales. Since 1991, he has published more than 250 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 60 books and chapters, and over 500 presentations at national and international conferences. His H-index is 35, with 5,474 citations (according to SCOPUS as of August 19, 2024). He has been the handling editor of Ecological Processes (Springer) since 2016, and also serves as an editor for other journals, including Ecología Austral, Land and Discover Conservation.
