Transformational leadership is a sustainable and exemplary form of leadership that liberates subordinates’ ideas, enables subordinates to view problems from a different perspective, helps adaptation to changing environments, and increases Human Resources Management effectiveness in public and service institutions. The effects of transformational leadership on organizational performance by means of knowledge management have been examined in this study on the northern Cyprus Security Forces. In addition, the study aims to analyze the relationships between transformational leadership, knowledge management, organizational performance, job satisfaction, organizational learning, and knowledge creation processes. The questionnaire was conducted in three different periods using a time-lag method, and data were collected from 1229 employees for this study. The collected data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (Lisrel 8.54). The findings of the research include 17 hypotheses that were supported, and 1 hypothesis that was not. In addition, it was determined that organizational learning, knowledge management, and job satisfaction mediate the effect of transformational leadership on organizational performance.

Undergraduate tourism and hospitality students participated in the current study to investigate the effect of student engagement and positive affectivity on academic achievement. Additionally, positive affectivity is treated as a mediating variable between engagement and achievement. The study sample was amassed at a university in Northern Cyprus. Results of the hierarchical regression analyses revealed that student engagement and positive affectivity had a significantly positive effect on academic achievement. The results also depicted a full mediation of positive affectivity between engagement and achievement. A variance inflation factor test did not reveal inflated results. In addition, Harmans’ single factor test revealed that the common method bias issue is well below the cut-off point. Limitations and implications are also discussed.

The current study examined the effects of uni-dimensional aggression scale (composed of verbal aggression, anger with resentment, physical aggression, and suspicion) on students’ current academic achievement score (GPA) and cumulative academic achievement score (CGPA). Undergraduate students (n=1481) partook in the current study at a university in Northern Cyprus. The study tested the negative effects of aggression on students’ GPA and CGPA. Demographic variables such as age, gender, and class-size have also been incorporated into the analyses and were treated as control variables. Multiple regression analyses have been deployed to test the hypothesized relationship. Results revealed that aggression had significant negative effects on students’current academic achievement (GPA) and cumulative academic achievement score (CGPA). Inclusion of control variables into the regression equation did not confound the effect of aggression on both achievement scores. Additionally, variance inflation factor (VIF) was controlled to monitor the issue of multi-collinearity. The results depicted that all VIF values were below the benchmark value. The study further notes implications, limitations, and avenues for future research

Undergraduate university students (n=1481) participated in the current study to investigate the effect of verbal aggression on emotional exhaustion, cynicism, and reduced professional efficacy (burnout). The sample of the study has been collected at a university in Northern Cyprus. Results revealed that verbal aggression had a significantly positive relationship with emotional exhaustion. Furthermore, verbal aggression was found to be positively associated with cynicism significantly. In addition, verbal aggression had a significant positive association with reduced professional efficacy. Inclusion of control variables into the equation of regression did not confound the effect of verbal aggression on emotional exhaustion, cynicism, and reduced professional efficacy. The study concludes with implications, limitations, and avenues for future research.

The current study developed and tested a model that investigated the relationship of supervisor support with work-family conflict and family-work conflict and the effects of both directions of conflict with family satisfaction, career satisfaction, and life satisfaction. The model also examined the impact of supervisor support on family and career satisfaction outcomes and the effects of these satisfaction variables on life satisfaction. The study hypotheses were tested based on data obtained from frontline employees in the Turkish hotel industry. According to the results of the path analysis, supervisor support lessened both work-family and family-work conflicts. As predicted, family-work conflict diminished family, career, and life satisfaction outcomes. Unexpectedly, work-family conflict was found to trigger career and life satisfaction. Results reveal that supervisor support increased both family and career satisfaction. The study findings also showed that family satisfaction was significantly and positively related to life satisfaction. The study findings, however, did not lend any support to the relationship between work-family conflict and family satisfaction and the effect of career satisfaction on life satisfaction. Implications for business practice and future research directions are discussed in the study.

Based on data obtained from frontline hotel employees in Northern Cyprus, this study investigated the effects of role stress and burnout on job performance. It was found that role ambiguity decreased job performance while role conflict enhanced job performance. The results indicated that diminished personal accomplishment exerted a significant negative influence on job performance whereas the rest of the burnout dimensions did not. The results further showed that both role conflict and ambiguity exacerbated emotional exhaustion and depersonalisation. Role ambiguity was found to have a significant positive relationship with diminished personal accomplishment whereas role conflict was not. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
