Associate Professor Nanju Alice Lee is an Associate Professor in the School of Chemical Engineering, University of New South Wales. She leads an active research program in food chemistry, immunosensors, and food safety, including food allergy.
In immunosensor research, she is well-recognized for developing fit-for-purpose and highly sensitive antibodies and rapid immunodiagnostic tests for a wide range of targets, including pathogens, contaminants, and allergens, by combining nanotechnology with immunodiagnostic technology.
In food allergy, she combines expert skills in food science, immunochemistry, and molecular allergology to identify and characterise new allergens; study digestibility and gut permeability; and investigate the effects of food processing and food-component interaction/reaction on food allergenicity to develop hypoallergenic foods for therapeutic applications.
