Ana Raquel Freitas is an Assistant Professor of Bacteriology and Microbiology at the University Institute of
Health Sciences (IUCS-CESPU) and an integrated Researcher at the Research Unit on Applied Molecular Biosciences (UCIBIO) within the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Porto (FFUP). She serves on the management board of the 1H-TOXRUN and holds the role of Coordinator at its Office of Communication and Public Engagement. Currently, she serves as the Chair of the Food- and Water-borne Infections Study Group for the esteemed European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID), is a trusted scientific reviewer for ESCMID, and sits on the Board of Direction of the Portuguese Society of Microbiology. With a dedication to health sciences, infectious diseases and One Health, Ana Raquel Freitas has been actively engaged in antimicrobial resistance research for over 15 years. Her productive contributions are considered relevant works that improved the knowledge of the biology and epidemiology of opportunistic pathogens of relevance in Public Health as enterococci.
