Short Biography

Hilary Causer is a Research Fellow at the University of Surrey. She is a qualitative researcher who has engaged a range of methods, using empirical and secondary data, to explore the perceptions and experiences of people who are exposed to, affected by, or bereaved by suicide. Hilary has also explored the experiences of counselling clients and self-identity following traumatic brain injury. She completed a BSc in Social Science with the Open University, an MSc in Counselling Psychology and a PhD in adult mental health, both at the University of Worcester. Hilary is a practice-experienced researcher, having previously worked with children, young people and their families in child protection and mental health settings. Her experiences as a front-line practitioner inform her interest in the impact of adverse workplace events, and workplace wellbeing.
