Professor Panagiotis Simitzis graduated from the Department of Animal Science and Aquaculture of the Agricultural University of Athens in 2002. After the acquisition of his master’s degree in animal science in 2003, he completed his PhD thesis in 2007 under the supervision of Professor S.G. Deligeorgis. From 2006 to 2008, he worked at the Ministry of Rural Development and Food of the Hellenic Republic. After the completion of his military service in 2010, he worked in the Laboratory of Animal Breeding and Husbandry at the Department of Animal Science of the Agricultural University of Athens (as associate professor from 2023). His main research interests include applied animal behavior science, animal welfare, animal husbandry, and quality characteristics of animal products and functional foods.
