Information

Prof. Pier F. Biagi got his degree in Physics in 1968 at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. From 1973 to 1993 he was Professor (at first Assistant and then Associated) of Applied Geophysics at the Faculty of Science of the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. From 1994 he has been Full Professor of Physics at the Science Faculty of the University of Bari. In the period 2007-2013 he has been the Vice Director of the Department of Physics of the University of Bari. For more than 40 years he has carried out researches in Applied Physics, Physics of the Environment, Natural Hazards and Seismology. His main research has been the study of the earthquake precursors. During last 15 years, his research was mainly on the natural electromagnetic emissions and on the disturbances on LF-VLF radio-waves propagation during the preparatory phase of strong earthquakes. In this framework in 2009, he created the European radio network INFREP for studying the radio precursors.  From 2021 he is an active member of Georgian National Academy. From 2014 he is retired from University of Bari. Currently, he is in the Scientific Committee of the company DIAN S.r.l. and external consultant of DIAN S.r.l. for research projects focused on the study of propagation anomalies of VLF/LF signals, ionosphere anomalies and seismic precursors. Furthermore, he continues his research activity as principal investigator of the INFREP cooperation previously mentioned.
