Antonios Dakanalis is a senior Professor in Psychiatry (MED/25) at the Medicine and Surgery Dept., Univ. of Milano-Bicocca (UNIMIB) and Honorary Research Fellow at the Dept. of Brain and Behavioral Sciences, Univ. of Pavia, and at the Psychiatry Dept., Medical School, Univ. of Crete. He graduated in Medicine (MB BChir, US and IT equivalent MD) and Psychology. He further specialized in Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy, and Psychiatry. He also obtained a PhD in Psych., Statistical and Health Sciences. He was a junior post-doctoral researcher (Dept. of Brain and Behavioral Sciences, Univ. of Pavia), visiting research fellow (Oregon Research Institute, USA), scientist (University of Bristol, UK), and clinician (The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, UK) and adjunct professor of experimental psychopathology (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), clinical psychology (Univ. of Cyprpus), and psychotherapy (Univ of Crete).
In addition to holding the positions indicated above, Antonios Dakanalis has been editor of several open-access generalist (e.g., Plos One) and specialist (e.g., Frontiers in Psych.) journals and published articles for high-IF international journals (see also below) and books for prestigious international publishers. Besides his clinical experience, his translational research focuses on bio-psycho-social risk factors, nosology, and eating disorders.
