Gianluigi Ferrari (http://www.tlc.unipr.it/ferrari) is an Associate Professor of Telecommunications (with National Scientific Qualification to the Role of Full Professor since 2013) at the University of Parma, Italy. Since 2006, he has been the Coordinator of the Internet of Things (IoT) Lab (http://iotlab.unipr.it/) in the Department of Engineering and Architecture. Since 2019, he is a member (expert of Telecommunications/IoT and the only Italian representative) of the 6-member Scientific Council of the Advanced Research & Technology for EMbedded Intelligent Systems (ARTEMIS) association. As of September 2020, he has (published or in press) over 280 papers in international journals and conferences, 31 book chapters, and 15 patents. He is coauthor of 9 books, including "Internet of Things: Architectures, Protocols and Standards" (Wiley: 2018). Prof. Ferrari's research interest revolve around three main areas: advanced communication and networking; signal processing; IoT and smart systems. His research activity has been funded by international/national public and private bodies, and the amount of recovered research funding is in excess of 3.8 MEuro. Prof. Ferrari received best paper/technical awards at international conferences. He is currently member of the Editorial boards of a few international journals. He is an IEEE Senior Member. Since 2016, he is co-founder and President of things2i ltd., a spin-off company of the University of Parma dedicated to IoT and smart systems.
