Marcin Blachnik received his PhD in computer science from the Silesian University of Technology (Poland) in 2007, and a Habilitation (DSc) degree from the same university in 2020. Since 2022 he has been the vice head of the Department of Industrial Informatics at the Silesian University of Technology and holds the professor position. He is also employed as a senior/independent programmer at the National Centre for Nuclear Research at the Interdisciplinary Division for Energy Analyses where he is responsible for AI applications in the energy sector. His research topics mainly include applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence methods in industry including the energy sector, hazardous object detection, and predictive maintenance, as well as basic research in machine learning focused on prototype-based methods.
