Rie Kakehashi is currently the head of the Surfactant Laboratory at the Morinomiya Center of the Osaka Institute of Industrial Science and Technology (ORIST). She received her Ph.D. in 1997 from the Graduate School of Science, Kyushu University under the supervision of Prof. Hiroshi Maeda. She has worked at ORIST (formerly Osaka Municipal Technical Research Institute) since 1998.
