Anne E. Dickerson, PhD, OTR/L, SCDCM, FAOTA, FGSA is Professor in East Carolina University’s (ECU) Department of Occupational Therapy and is Director of the Research for the Older Adult Driver Initiative (ROADI). Dr. Dickerson is an international scholar in occupational therapy with older adults, aging drivers, interactive driving simulation, drivers with autism spectrum disorder, and driver rehabilitation. She was awarded ECU’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Research and Creative Activity in 2018, is a fellow of the America Occupational Therapy Association and Gerontological Society of America as well as other honors and awards. Dr. Dickerson is currently funded to implement A demonstration project promoting highway safety program guideline No. 13 in North Carolina from the National Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA); is project consultant on a AOTA/NHTSA project to expand occupational therapy driving rehabilitation services, and has developed the Driving and Community Bootcamp for Teens and Young Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder, an intensive program to promote mobility for those with high functioning autism.
