Dr. Chiara Villa is an Assistant Professor of Pathology at the University of Milano-Bicocca. She received her Master’s and PhD degrees at the University of Milan in 2006 and 2009, respectively. Her research activity is focused on the study of the etiopathogenesis of different neurological diseases (Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, autism spectrum disorders, sleep disorders) by cellular and molecular biology techniques. She is involved in the identification of novel biomarkers and genetic risk factors in key genes involved in the development and progression of such disorders, searching for new genes/mutations by the means of genetic and genomics NGS analyses, and in vitro evaluation of the molecular mechanisms of action in determining functional and structural alterations. She has 78 publications with 1881 citations and an h-index of 24 (Scopus, 28 December 2023). She is also a member of the Italian Society of Neuroscience (SINS), the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS), the Italian Society of Human Genetics (SIGU), the European Society of Pathology (ESP), and the Italian Society of Pathology and Translational Medicine (SIPMeT).
