The main objective of this research is to investigate the nexus between entrepreneurial leadership and product innovation performance. In addition, the mediating mechanism of absorptive capacity, intra-firm networks, and design thinking through which entrepreneurial leaders influence product innovation performanceis also studied. The researcher contacted three hundred (300) plus firms; 157 firms showed a willingness to participate, and 96 firms provided the data with a response rate of 61.15%. Out of those 96 firms, the data from 71 firms were used for the final analysis, yielding an effective response rate of 45.22%. Only middle and top-level employees from the marketing and research & development departments from Pakistani firms were selected as respondents because these two departments are directly related to product innovation performance. To test the hypothesis, the Smart PLS-SEM technique wasused. The empirical analysis revealed that entrepreneurial leadership impacted product innovation performance through the mediating mechanism of design thinking, intra-firm networks, and absorptive capacity. The current research contributes to entrepreneurial leadership theory by proposing and empirically testing how entrepreneurial leaders affect product innovation performance.

The primary objective of this research is to investigate the role of strategic human resource management practices in developing resilient organizational behavior. This research aims to test the mediating function of individual resilient behavior between strategic human resources management practices and resilient organizational behavior. Data was collected from 780 managerial level employees working in small and medium Chinese enterprises in Hubei Province through a self-administrated questionnaire. The Smart partial least square structural equation modeling technique was used for data analysis. The analysis showed a significant positive relationship among SHRM practices, employee resilient behavior, and resilient organizational behavior. Results also show that employee resilient behavior partially mediates the relationship between SHRM practices and resilient organizational behavior. Individual resilient behavior is needed when an organization is in crisis, restructuring, transformation, turbulent, and unfavorable conditions. Without individual resilient behavior, it is difficult for an organization to be resilient. Therefore, strategic human resource management practices are essential to develop an employee’s resilience. This research contributed to the body of knowledge by bringing new concepts together. The main contribution was testing the role of individual resilient behavior between strategic human resource management practices and resilient organizational behavior.

Although, knowledge has been recognized as a key business asset, firms are still in the infancy stages of comprehending the practical implications of knowledge management. Developing countries are widely believed to be falling far behind in competitiveness and socio-economic development, due to their inability to develop capacities to enable themselves to take part in the emerging global networks of knowledge creation. There is a dire need for a more organized and purposeful study, on critical success factors for knowledge management adoption in developing countries like Pakistan. However, no research, so far, has been conducted to empirically investigate a detailed list of CSFs for KM adoption in Pakistan. This paper evaluates and disseminates the findings of a self-administered survey to investigate the critical success factors for the implementation of KM in banking sector of Pakistan. A survey questionnaire having 11 factors, consisting 66 items is adopted in this study, which is statistically tested for its validity as well as reliability. Data are collected from banking officials. The level of importance, as well as the ranking list of the critical success factors for KM adoption is statistically examined. This paper provides a priority list of CSFs—figured out in order of their importance—for KM adoption in the banking sector of Pakistan. Human resource management, motivational aids, and processes and activities are found to be the most important, while measurement and organizational infrastructure are found to be the least important factors, perceived by the bankers.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has imperatively shaken the behavior of the global financial markets. This study estimated the impact of COVID-19 on the behavior of the financial markets of Europe and the US. The results revealed that the returns of the S&P 500 index have been greatly affected by a lockdown in the US owing to COVID-19. However, the health crisis generated due to the novel coronavirus significantly decreased the stock returns of the Nasdaq Composite index. The results also showed that the economic crisis generated from the pandemic in Spain has had more impact on the IBEX 35 as compared to the health crisis itself. On the other hand, in the long-run, Italy’s stock markets are more affected by the health crisis as contrasted with the economic crisis, while, in the short-run, both lockdown conditions and economic instability lower the stock returns of FTSE MIB. The UK stock markets witnessed that in the short-run, deficiency of health management systems imperatively damaged the stock returns of the London Stock Exchange. The investigation revealed that deficiency of health systems and lockdown conditions have imperatively damaged the structure of financial markets, inferring that sustainable development of these nations is at risk due to COVID-19. The study suggested that governments should allocate more of their budget to the health sector to overcome a health crisis in the future.

The main purpose of this research project was to investigate the impact of Strategic Human Resource Management practices on knowledge sharing behavior among university faculty members. This research also studied the mediating role of trust and organizational commitment in the relationship between SHRM practices and knowledge sharing behavior. Following the positivist paradigm, this research adopted the quantitative research strategy and collected the data from 700 faculty members of leading universities (top ranked by Higher Education Commission) of Pakistan through a self-administered questionnaire. Bi-variate and multi-variate quantitative analyses were used to test the hypothesis and achieve the research objectives. Structural Equation Modeling through Smart Partial Least Square was used to test the entire key hypothesis. The findings revealed that SHRM practices are vital in creating knowledge sharing behavior among faculty members, organizational commitment partially mediates the relationship among the aforementioned variables, while trust completely mediates the relationship between HR practices and knowledge sharing behavior. Thus, this study provides sufficient guidelines for HR policymakers and administration of public universities on how to make faculty members more committed to their institution and to develop the culture of knowledge sharing by adopting SHRM practices, while helping employees to have socio-emotional relationships so that trust can be developed among them.

In the modern business environment, characterized by rapid technological advancements and globalization, abetted by IoT and Industry 5.0 phenomenon, innovation is indispensable for competitive advantage and economic growth. However, many organizations are facing problems in its true implementation due to the absence of a practical innovation management framework, which has made the implementation of the concept elusive instead of persuasive. The present study has proposed a new innovation management framework labeled as “Absolute Innovation Management (AIM)” to make innovation more understandable, implementable, and part of the organization’s everyday routine by synergizing the innovation ecosystem, design thinking, and corporate strategy to achieve competitive advantage and economic growth. The current study used an integrative literature review methodology to develop the “Absolute Innovation Management” framework. The absolute innovation management framework links the innovation ecosystem with the corporate strategy of the firm by adopting innovation management as a strategy through design thinking. Thus, making innovation more user/human-centered that is desirable by the customer, viable for business and technically feasible, creating both entrepreneurial and customer value, and boosting corporate venturing and corporate entrepreneurship to achieve competitive advantage and economic growth while addressing the needs of IoT and Industry 5.0 era. In sum, it synergizes innovation, design thinking, and strategy to make businesses future-ready for IoT and industry 5.0 revolution. The present study is significant, as it not only make considerable contributions to the existing literature on innovation management by developing a new framework but also makes the concept more practical, implementable and part of an organization’s everyday routine.

Purpose – Purpose of current study is to explore, impact of workplace environment i.e Physical Environmental Factors and Behavioral Environmental Factors on employee productivity (EP) through mediating role of employee health (EH). Research methodology – This study adopted questionnaire survey method and data was collected from 250 employees working in software houses in Pakistan. Data has been analysed using SPSS and AMOS software. Reliability and correlation analysis was performed by using SPSS while; path analysis was performed using AMOS. Findings – Results revealed that one unit variance in PEF incorporates 35% change in EH, 33% change in EH is caused by one unit increase in BEF and one unit increase in EH leads to 80% increase in EP. Physical and Behavioural Environmental Factors are positively affecting EH and EH is positivity affecting EP. Results of the study revealed that: employee health is mediating the relationship between workplace environment factors and employee performance. Research limitations – We used working Environment factors to determine employee health; future studies can consider compensation practices, insurance plans and health benefits by the organisation, a large sample or increased number of mediating variables can be used. The current study has adopted cross-sectional design while future studies can consider longitudinal design. Practical implications – Organisations must maintain a better environment in order to enhance employee productivity as, employee performance and workplace environment have direct and positive relationship, employees productivity and physical as well as behavioural environment are linked through employee health.

As “public–private partnership” (PPP) is becoming a popular model among states, the debate concerning how to make it more successful is accelerating. Based on insights from contemporary organization theory (OT), the present article suggests that instead of taking PPP as “partnership” between private and public sector partners, it is rather more beneficial to construe it as inter-dependent form (I-Form) organization. Subsequently, it identifies three types of interdependencies, faced by PPP-based I-Form organizations, and furnishes a model—comprising of initial and external conditions, and interplay of internal factors—that could enable smooth functioning and performance of I-Form organization.

The Government of Pakistan, with technical and financial assistance from international development institutions, has begun to implement Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) in its electricity distribution systems to address a growing electricity crisis in the country. Grounded in resource-based theory and firm-specific human capital logic, we argue that the success of this project will largely be determined by the Electricity Distribution Companies' (DISCOs) HRM capacity that includes both the effective development of AMI-specific human resource (HR) capabilities (knowledge, abilities, skills, attitudes, behaviors), and human resource management (HRM) strategy. Data concerning HR capabilities and the prevailing HRM strategy were collected through in-depth interviews with HRM professionals, project managers, and technical staff of DISCOs; and an online survey of 3400 electricity consumers. Findings reveal that the DISCOs have a short-term, functional, and technical understanding of AMI and may not be aware of the long-term social and economic implications of the project. Electricity consumer attitudes toward different aspects of AMI technology and the government's commitment to overcoming the energy crisis and implementing AMI are not sufficiently positive. The DISCOs understanding of the need for consumer engagement and AMI-specific HR capabilities and HRM strategy to realize the full benefits of AMI is limited. This lack of attention to project-specific HR capabilities and HRM strategy in the DISCOs, along with the absence of a consumer-engagement strategy, seem to be major barriers to the successful implementation of AMI and achievement of associated goals in Pakistan.

This study observes the phenomenon of organizational performance with the lens of dynamic capabilities. This study investigates the impact of dynamic capabilities on organizational performance, taking organizational competencies as moderating variable, focusing on a paper industry at Lahore, Pakistan. The measurement of dynamic capabilities is based on the multi-dimensional construct underlying the four main factors which include i.e. Sensing, Learning, strong coordination, and competitive response to the rivals. This will lead to explore relationship of dynamic capabilities with organizational performance. Empirical research posits that dynamic capabilities have a direct impact on the organizational performance of the firm. It also proves that organizational competencies have positive moderating role in relationship of organizational performance and dynamic capabilities. This suggests that the direct relationship between dynamic capabilities and performance is insignificant.

Drawing on Nonaka and colleagues’ recent concept of phronesis, as a third type of knowledge that is connoted with practical wisdom, the present article proposes that intuitive decision making ability propels with phronesis. Furthermore, it proposes that cognitive adaptability – as the ability to quickly make sense of changing and complex situations – along with personality, as consistent patterns of behaviors based on social learning, are antecedents of phronesis. The article furnishes a conceptual frame based on contemporary literature on intuition, phronesis, cognitive adaptability, situated cognition, metacognition, and social learning theory of personality.
