Daniele Ehrlich is a senior scientist with the Joint Research Centre, of the European Commission and based in Ispra, Italy. Daniele holds a B.S. degree in Forestry from the University of Padova, (Italy), and a Ph.D. degree from the University California at Santa Barbara (USA). He has over 25 years of experience in remote sensing and GIS applied to global forestry, agricultural mapping, and disaster risk management. His recent work addresses measuring and mapping global human settlement with focus on global built-up analysis, population estimations, and for generating exposure datasets used in global disaster risk assessments. Daniele’s research interest focuses also on analysing spatial urbanization patterns for use in local and global sustainability research.
