This research tackles effective and functional management practices in energy consumption using advanced technological solutions to mitigate unexpected events. This study specifically focuses on the recent COVID-19 pandemic that led to a reduction in energy consumption and therefore meddled with the project management’s status quo for the energy sources. Moreover, this research analyzes the role of information and communication technology (ICT) solutions in energy management before and after the recent coronavirus pandemic turmoil. This study also examined the role and place of sustainable energy resources in the effective management of energy consumption during the COVID-19 pandemic. The main purpose of this research is to demonstrate how the recent coronavirus pandemic affected energy consumption and energy prices in many countries and how it paved the way for the new ICT in managing energy consumption. This study elaborated a model to show how these changes evolved in selected European Union (EU) Member States. It turns out that adjusted electricity consumption, as well as the average daily spot electricity prices for the baseload power in the EU countries, declined, and this trend is likely to continue in the next years to come. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, substantial changes in the economy led to reduced office space usage, cutting commuting and business trips, and bringing commercial travel almost to a halt, further shifting the energy balance towards renewable energy sources (RES). Besides, it becomes apparent that ICT solutions used in maintaining and superintending the energy balance are gaining popularity and wide recognition worldwide and will help pave the way towards modern and smart high-renewables grids.

Globalization, technological development and a dynamic business environment influence the change of customer information demands. It becomes vital for organizations to find out the customer demand change and discover technological solutions to satisfy these demands. One of these technologies is augmented reality, which connects real and digital environments by expanding it with digitally coded information which is decoded by using a specific device. As this type of technology enables the changing information needs of customers to be met faster, organizations are increasingly using these technological solutions to achieve a variety of purposes: to position products innovatively, increase product awareness, create added value for the customer, increase sales. However, organizations often face the challenge of evaluating commercial augmented reality mobile applications in user experience. A two-case study has been selected to evaluate the user experience of augmented reality commercial mobile applications and provide recommendations for their development to address this issue. In this research, such methods as scoping scientific literature review, expert evaluation, and user experience questionnaire method were used. The study has identified the main factors influencing the positive user experience: the explicit purpose of the application, easy to use and learn, smooth operation, imaginative information presentation, and interactivity.

Organizations operating in the intensive knowledge-based sector seek efficient management approaches and sustainable development practices to perform efficiently in the dynamic business environment. Knowledge management practice and organizational learning are significant factors in order to achieve sustainable organizational performance in a rapidly changing business environment. Based on the scientific literature analysis, there is still a lack of evidence related to the mediating role of the whole knowledge management cycle, including the five knowledge management processes (knowledge acquisition, creation, storage, sharing, and application) in the relationship between organizational learning and sustainable organizational performance for organizations operating in intensive knowledge-based sectors. This study aimed to examine the impact of the whole knowledge management cycle on the relationship between organizational learning and sustainable organizational performance in intensive knowledge-based sectors, specifically the audit and consulting companies in the Middle East region. Systematic scientific literature analysis, expert evaluation (structured questionnaire), and structural equation modeling (SEM) technique were used to develop and verify the research model. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire distributed among auditing experts working in a knowledge-based sector—audit and consulting companies in the Middle East region. The research results supported the hypotheses stating that organizational learning positively affects knowledge acquisition, storage, sharing, application processes, and sustainable organizational performance. However, the results verified that organizational learning has an insignificant impact on the Middle Eastern audit and consulting companies’ knowledge creation process.

In the context of globalization and transformations, efficient knowledge potential assessment is a powerful tool for increasing the performance of organizations. Knowledge potential is defined as a whole of organization’s resources and market opportunities. Its complex evaluation and efficient management create preconditions for satisfying changing customers’ needs, creating value and uniqueness in the marketplace. Most researchers emphasize that the crucial components of an organization‘s knowledge potential should be integrated and balanced in the assessment of knowledge management, because in the complexity and uncertainty of knowledge management environment it is difficult to forecast and anticipate the results the organization is trying to achieve. As a consequence of this, the factors, approaches, and methods of the assessment of the factors that influence the external and internal knowledge potential are regarded as controversial in the scientific literature and practice. Different approaches that analyze the aspects of knowledge potential assessment interpret and evaluate organization’s knowledge potential differently. In this research these problems are analyzed by examining and integrating contemporary management approaches and theories, different attitudes of researchers towards external and internal factors that influence knowledge potential, and their evaluation aspects. The aim of this study is to present the peculiarities of organization’s knowledge potential assessment in the context of transformations and the conceptual research model of the influence of knowledge potential on the performance of an organization, which creates preconditions for assessing which factors impact the performance of knowledge management and the organization itself. The conceptual research model of the influence of knowledge potential on the organization’s performance was formed by applying the analysis of scientific literature, systematic analysis, methods of synthesis, and by integrating the results of the empirical research conducted by the authors (Raudeliūnienė, 2017; Raudeliūnienė et al., 2018). Communication needs of consumers change in the context of transformations and companies not only have to find out changing needs of consumers but also find proper communication measures that are necessary to satisfy such needs in order to create as bigger value as possible during a process of communication with consumers. The web opportunities not only provide new tools but also generate challenges related to the satisfaction of consumer needs. When communication needs of consumers change in the context of transformation, then consumer becomes more demanding in cyberspace. Therefore, organizations must not only continually analyse consumer needs, changes of behaviour, but also select effective measures of communication. In order to deal with the issues of such nature the research focuses on the purpose to identify ever-changing needs of different consumer types in the cyberspace and to provide industrial organizations with recommendations how communication measures could help meet these needs more effectively.

In the context of globalization, information technology development and transformation not only the needs of the society are changing, structural changes are taking place in the management of the activities of the regulatory institutions as well, because their main function is to meet the changing needs of society. While this process is happening, it becomes difficult to balance activities of the regulatory institutions with the needs of the society and business. This is why optimization of the regulatory institutions functions is one the European Union᾽s priorities. One of the most efficient ways to increase the quality of public services, reduce expenses, encourage cooperation between institutions and make decision making process more efficiently is to create an evaluation system that allows assessment of the efficiency of the consolidation of regulatory institutions functions during the implementation of e-government. In order to solve issues, the analysis of scientific literature, multiple criteria and expert evaluation were applied. The proposed system for evaluation of the consolidation of the activities of the regulatory institutions while implementing solutions of e-government allows complete assessment of the factors and criteria, identification of drawbacks of the process and also enables to create decisions for solutions of the problems.

Recently the knowledge management processes are analysed as the main source of uniqueness for the organisations, while they are facing the challenge of implementing the most efficient processes that affect their performance (Chang, Hsu, & Yen, 2012; Kianto, Vanhala, & Heilmann, 2016; Raudeliūnienė & Meidutė-Kavaliauskienė, 2016; Raudeliūnienė, Davidavičienė, & Jakubavičius, 2018; Känsäkoski, 2017). The scientists distinguish different combinations of knowledge manage-ment processes in approaching the knowledge management process and analysis has shown that knowledge management processes, studied by most scientists, do not have a clear knowledge man-agement structure (García-Fernández, 2015; Raudeliūnienė et al., 2018). The purpose of this study is to examine the knowledge management concept and knowledge management cycle considering the different interpretations of scientists. The study is grounded on scientific literature review.

As the virtual environment is constantly changing, not only users’ informational and knowledge needs but also the means and channels of communication with customers applied by organizations change. There is a noticeable trend to move more and more advertising campaigns to social media networks because of the opportunities they provide to organizations and users, which results in the ever-increasing popularity of social media networks and a number of their users. Such a transition is explained by one of the main objectives organizations have: to inform their customers in an appropriate way and receive feedback on social media networks, which is difficult when traditional advertising channels and means are applied. Since advertising campaigns on social media networks are evolving rapidly, their assessment factors and methods, which receive controversial opinions in both scientific literature and practice, change too. Researchers assess and interpret the factors that influence the effectiveness of advertising campaigns on social media networks differently. Thus, a problem arises: how should we evaluate which approach is more capable of accurately and fully reflecting and conveying reality? In this research, this problem is studied by connecting approaches of different researchers. These approaches are linked to the effectiveness assessment of advertising campaigns on social media network aspects. To achieve the objective of this study, such research methods as analysis of scientific literature, multiple criteria and expert assessment (a structured survey and an interview) were applied. During the study, out of 39 primary assessment factors, eight primary factors that influence the effectiveness of advertising campaigns on social media networks were identified: sales, content reach, traffic to website, impressions, frequency, relevance score, leads and audience growth.
