In order to improve the satisfaction of online retail consumers and explore the process of forming consumer loyalty during the COVID-19 pandemic, this research combines the theories of perceived value and affect-as-information, taking cold chain logistics services (PDS) as an example to discuss the influence of PDS quality (PDSQ) of online retail cold chain on consumers’ psychological emotion (satisfaction and psychological distress), attitude, and behaviour (loyalty). We collected 350 valid responses from an online response team in Wuhan, China, and analysed the data using exploratory factor analysis and structural equation modelling. Results reveal that the general psychological distress of consumers plays an intermediary role in the influence path of PDSQ on consumer loyalty during the pandemic. Therefore, online retailers should combine logistics services with measures to alleviate consumer psychological distress in disaster situations, which can increase consumers’ loyalty to online retailers.

This study is aimed at suggesting the most economical transportation route by comparing seven different Korea–US intermodal transportation routes for automotive parts exported to Southeastern USA. To keep up with the global competition of parts makers, which are expanding their markets based on advanced technology and enormous capital, Korean automotive parts makers also need to actively advance their markets overseas. From this point of view, selecting an efficient transport route and transportation modes for overseas export is essential. To this end, the most efficient transportation route from the perspective of total logistics cost was selected by adapting the inventory-theoretic model, using information such as the logistics status of a specific company and the logistics freight rates and transit time for the third quarter of 2019. Thus, the scenario analysis was conducted assuming that variables—namely transportation cost per unit, commodity value, inventory cost and additional conditions such as terminal free time—were modified. Through this study, the optimal transportation route was selected by fully considering and predicting the total logistics cost component and the variability of the major factors.

Strengthening sale and purchase (S&P) capacity has become a fundamental requirement for sustainable growth and corporate competitiveness in the modern shipping market. However, there is a lack of research related to S&P and its priority when shipping companies attempt to implement ship acquisition through S&P activities. To fill this gap, this paper conducts an empirical analysis to analyze priority factors during the acquisition of second-hand ships from the perspective of shipping companies. Business criteria are considered to be the most important factors in the analysis of the priority of ship acquisition and investment in shipping companies. To the best of our knowledge, this research is the first exploration covering Korean shipping companies’ ship acquisition through S&P activities. This study is expected to contribute to the better understanding of the role of S&P in ensuring the sustainability of shipping companies and to provide stakeholders with valuable insights.
