My research focuses on the nexus of health, education, and preventive clinical research. My work is grounded in historical, Indigenous, and feminist scholarship. I employ both qualitative and quantitative research methods and theories of change to promote wellness in individuals of Mexican ancestry (IMA) and their communities. I also design resilient-oriented theoretical and methodological approaches to investigate the roots of their social and health disparities.

Council Social Work Education & Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) 2018-present

CSWE’s Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) opportunities support the mission of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to reduce the effects of substance abuse and mental illness on America’s communities by increasing the number of individuals trained to work with underrepresented and underserved racial/ethnic minority persons with or at risk for mental health and/or substance abuse disorders.
