Research interests: soil science, soil geography, pedoarchaeology, and the study of ancient systems of land use using new scientific methods (GIS, remote sensing). Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation; member of the V. Dokuchaev Soil Science Society, Russian Geographical Society, and Interuniversity Council for the Study of Soil Erosion; awarded the medal of V. V. Dokuchaev (2016).
