Jose Blasco received an MSc (1994) and a PhD in Computer Science at Universitat Politècnica de València (2001). He worked for IBM Spain as a systems analyst before joining the Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Agrarias (IVIA) in 1996, where he led the Computer Vision Group in Agriculture. Since 2014, he has coordinated the IVIA Agricultural Engineering Centre, where he develops applications of computer vision and precision agriculture in the field and post-harvest. He is the coordinator of the CIGR Working Group on Image Analysis for Agricultural Processes and Products and a member of the Technical Section VI of the CIGR “Bioprocesses”. His areas of interest are non-destructive quality inspection of fresh products post-harvest and crop monitoring using non-destructive optical technologies. He has coordinated national and international research projects and contracts resulting in international patents, published more than 80 scientific articles and 20 international book chapters, and given more than 175 conference presentations and invited talks.
