Bhabananda (Bhaba) Biswas is an esteemed researcher with 14 years of interdisciplinary experience in material-based environmental remediation. Holding a PhD, he specialises in applied clay research. Bhaba has spearheaded numerous research projects in Australia and globally, securing competitive grants and industry investments. Notable projects include modifying clays to reduce methane emissions from cattle burps and developing sustainable phosphate fertilisers using Australian clays and alike minerals. He is a co-inventor of several clay composites offering real-world solutions to environmental contaminants. With technical expertise in material synthesis, characterisation, and the valorisation of raw minerals and materials, Bhaba also emphasises material safety through the application of conventional and molecular technology. He is recognised as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow and recipient of prestigious awards such as the South Australia Governor Award for Research Excellence and recognition as one of the top ten Fresh Scientists of South Australia. Dr Biswas serves as the News Editor of the Clay Minerals Society, USA, and chairs its standing committee on electronic communication. Additionally, he contributes as a reviewer and editorial board member for several academic journals, and actively promotes scientific discourse among early-career researchers through public engagement initiatives.
