Prof. Ricardo J. Fernandes completed the License on Sport and Physical Education in 1995 and a Master in Sport Sciences (specialization in High Performance Sport—Swimming) in 1999, both at the Faculty of Sport, the University of Porto. He became a Doctor in Sport Sciences at the same institution in 2006 and successfully completed Habilitation in 2013. He has been teaching at the Faculty of Sport, the University of Porto, since 1995. He is interested in Sport Sciences, particularly biophysical characterization specially centered on the availability and use of energy in cyclic sports.
