Prof. Ana Paula Duarte

AP Duarte is Full Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences (FCS), University of Beira Interior. She is the Vice-President of FCS, the Coordinator of Pharmaceutical Sciences PhD Program of FCS, and the Coordinator of the Pharmacovigilance Unit of Beira Interior. AP Duarte has a Pharmaceutical Sciences degree (PharmD, 6-year program) and a PhD in Wood Chemistry. AP Duarte's research interests focus on extracting polyphenols of natural products and evaluating their biological activities, namely those related to antioxidant activity. Their present research interests include the impact and mechanism of action of natural polyphenols in oxidative stress-related diseases, as well as the problems of bioaccessibility and bioavailability. Moreover, AP Duarte's research interests also include pharmacovigilance and drug safety. AP Duarte published 92 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, nine book chapters, and one national patent and has over 1900 citations and an h-index of 24. AP Duarte's teaching activities are in the fields of Pharmacognosy and Pharmacology.
