Giovanna Tranfo graduated cum laude in organic–biological chemistry, specializing in clinical biochemistry, and obtained a Ph.D. in the science of prevention. From 1983 to 1993, she was a researcher for two major Italian pharmaceutical companies (Angelini and Serono); since 1994, she has been a researcher at ISPESL, now INAIL, and she is presently the senior researcher and head of the Chemical Risk Laboratory. In 2020, she received the National Scientific qualification as a Full Professor in Occupational Medicine. Her research interests include occupational and environmental exposure to chemicals and biomonitoring. She is a reviewer for several scientific journals, supervises Master’s and PhD theses, and has received national and international grants.
