Dr. Boštjan Šumak

Dr. Boštjan Šumak is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Maribor, Slovenia. He is an expert in modern software architectures, web technologies, user experience, and the acceptance and use of information technologies. His research also extends to hands-free computer interaction and the integration of information systems. Dr. Šumak holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Informatics from the University of Maribor, where he has been actively involved in academia since 2000. He lectures on various subjects, including application development tools, web technologies, web development, service-oriented architectures, and user experience evaluation. Dr. Šumak has authored over 100 publications, including more than 30 original scientific papers in high-impact journals such as Applied Sciences, Sensors, and Computers in Human Behavior. His work focuses on understanding and improving the interaction between users and technology, particularly in contexts of education and accessibility. He has also coordinated several international and national projects, including AI-ENABLE, RINKO, and SET4Inclusion, contributing to advancements in digital accessibility, inclusive education, and the integration of emerging technologies. His research and leadership continue to promote inclusive and innovative practices in higher education and beyond.
