Associate professor of Botany and Agri-food Biotechnologies at the University of Salento, Lecce, Italy. He graduated in Biological Sciences (110/110 cum laude) at the University of Lecce in 1996. He obtained a post-grade degree in Biotechnological Applications (50/50 cum laude) at the University of Bari in 2000 and a PhD Degree in Biology and Biotechnology at the University of Lecce. His research focusses mainly on: a) Secretion of proteins, glycoproteins and polysaccharides to the apoplast; b) Biosynthesis of carotenoids and plastid differentiation during fruit ripening; c) Study of responses of plants to acoustic and vibrational stimuli; d) Extraction of bioactives from plants with green technologies; e) Development of innovative functional foods and ingredients. Currently Prof. Lenucci is Director of the Botanical Garden of the University of Salento and National coordinator of the working group “Cellular and Molecular Biology” of the Italian Botanical Society.
