F. Raquel Maia obtained her BSc and MSc degrees in Biology
from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP) in 2007 and
2008, respectively. In 2010, she received the Best Poster Award at the “Trends in
Nanotechnology” International Conference, 2010. In 2014, she obtained her PhD
degree in Biomedical Engineering, which was approved with distinction from the
Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. In 2015, she attended the Cell
and Molecular Biology Bone Research Group, Department of Medicine, at the
University of Auckland, New Zealand, under the supervision of Professor Jillian
Cornish, with a scholarship awarded from Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds. In 2017,
she was awarded an FCT Postdoc fellowship (ref: SFRH/BPD/117492/2016)
envisioning to deepen the knowledge on cancer biology. Currently, she is a
Junior Investigator with a contract under “Norma Transitória DL 57/2016-Lei
57/2017”. She is also a member of four FCT-funded projects and two
European-funded projects. Notably, she was elected as a referee in 16
scientific international journals, and she is part of the Reviewer Board (RB) of
