Carlos Martins Gomes is a Ph.D. student in Chemical and Biological Sciences at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro. Carlos has a bachelor's and master's degree in Biochemistry and is currently a researcher at the Biochemistry and Cell Biology Laboratory (Department of Biology and Environment) and at the Center for Research and Technology in Agro-Environmental and Biological Sciences (CITAB). His work focuses on the search for new functional foods, bioactivities of natural products, and signalling pathways related to the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumoral properties of these products using in vitro cell models. In addition, Carlos has also participated in research projects related to food chemistry, pesticide-induced toxicity, and nanotechnology. Carlos has 51 publications with 1057 citations and an h-index of 20 (Scopus, 11 December 2023).
