Dr. Sergio Eduardo Contreras-Liza

Sergio Eduardo Contreras-Liza is an agricultural engineer with a Magister Scientiae in Plant Breeding and a Ph.D. in Sustainable Agriculture who is dedicated to university teaching, research and public administration. He is a Fellow of the International Potato Center (1985-1987) for a Master's degree in Genetics and Improvement of potatoes and sweet potatoes. He received a scholarship from the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (1992-1993) for specialization studies in plant breeding. Six papers were presented at international scientific events. He has a "Bicentenaria" potato variety breeder's registration (INDECOPI, Peru). He is currently a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, Food and Environmental Industries, Universidad Nacional José Faustino Sánchez Carrión (1999-2022). He performs applied research on biofertilizers for atmospheric N fixation in corn and potato and on sweet potato quality improvement for processing.
