Ing. M. Švantner, Ph.D. is a senior researcher and a team leader of an active thermography group at the New Technologies Research Center (NTC) at the University of West Bohemia (UWB), Plzeň, Czechia. He deals with active thermography, infrared non-destructive testing, and contact/non-contact temperature measurement. He graduated in 2000 and obtained a Ph.D. degree in 2005 at UWB. He received his experience in research and development at the company ŠKODA VÝZKUM s.r.o. (2000) and was a scientific staff member at NTC since 2001. He participated to implement or was a leader in selected work packages of grant projects supported by national institutions (e.g. Technology Agency of the Czech Republic; Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports; Ministry of Industry and Trade, etc.) or European institutions (e.g. European Space Agency) since 2000. He is the author or co-author of articles in technical journals, results of applied research, and several patents or utility models. He is a member of an expert team of the working group CEN/TC 138/WG 11 "Infrared thermographic testing" of the European Committee for Standardization since 2016.
