Main purposes of the chapter are to present research on the complexity of e-government systems research field dynamics from 2000 to 2018, and to present the business models approach in the public sector. Thematic subfields in the past as well as future trends were identified: the bibliometric and citation analysis of the Scopus database journal articles were utilized, with the focus of the e-government development. Results reveal that in the most prolific journals before 2011 the research was focused mainly on the information and information technology, implementation, strategies and processes, but in the last decade, on the e-government. After 2011 research became more focused on how to adopt e-government, factors influencing adoption, on data, trust, risk, and other selected viewpoints. As a result of the digitalization and the high-velocity, high-variety and high-volume of data produced daily, the rising awareness of the information hidden in the big-data bases, that are characteristic for the e-government as well, became more emphasized. The user’s perspective became the focus of e-government. The existing research results show that in the past, the perspective of the provider was in the forefront; nowadays it is the quality of e-government services for the user (life and work quality). This concept is closely linked to the idea of promoting internal efficiency, effectiveness and productivity, thus creating a basis for significant cost savings associated with e-government. We add the viewpoint of business ethics and social responsibility that is incorporated into the business ethics (and vice versa). From the business models perspective, most e-government portals today are hybrid business models and a combination of the four basic stand-alone models, namely information, communication, transaction and integration business models. It is important to add that also e-governance models should match the integral management model of the organization. During past years the e-government complexity is reflected in the dense network of building blocks of more sophisticated e-government system, which is beyond early systems and beyond local government borders, forming e-government ecosystems.

Instructions for Written Works at Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Maribor. During the course of their studies, each student encounters the creation of written works. The first step is the seminar work within individual courses, intended precisely for us to learn to research, to search for sources of data and other information, to express ourselves professionally, to form our thoughts and to appropriately shape the final appearance of the text. This knowledge is then shown in the final works at the end of the study, where the content and format of such written work is especially important. The manual is constructed in such a way that the chapters follow in the same way as in any written work, except for the colophon and the preface, which are not otherwise necessary in the written works. Each chapter explains the essential features of the chapter. Below the "attention" tag are the most common mistakes we should pay particular attention to and avoid. The example label shows the layout of the individual elements. Also, command hints in Microsoft Word 2019 have been added for easier work. V vsakem poglavju so pojasnjene bistvene značilnosti poglavja. Pod oznako "pozor" so navedene najpogostejše napake, na katere moramo biti posebej pozorni in se jih izogibati. Pod oznako primer so prikazani izgledi posameznih elementov. Prav tako so za lažje delo dodani namigi za ukaze v Microsoft Word 2019.

This paper uses the technology acceptance model (TAM) framework for the research of economic and geography students’ attitudes towards interdisciplinary knowledge. Based on the SmartPLS Structural equation modelling SEM variance-based method, research results were gained through analysis of survey data of economic and geography students. They participated in the Spationomy project in the period of 2017–2019. Online questionnaires were fulfilled before and after students’ participation in the project and their future behavioural intention to use interdisciplinary knowledge was analysed. Based on the research, we can confirm that the Spationomy project has achieved its purpose, as both groups of students (economic and geography students) have acquired interdisciplinary knowledge and students intend to use it also in the future. Therefore, we can argue that the students included in the project in practice gained recognition of systems thinking about the importance of mutual interdisciplinary cooperation towards achieving synergies. The results also show that TAM can be successfully implemented to analyse how students of economics and geography accept the use of interdisciplinary knowledge in the learning process, which is an important implication for management and education as well as from the theoretical implications viewpoint. While effective analysis using TAM has been used successfully and relatively frequently in economics and business field, we have not found relevant examples of its implementation in the broader field of geography. However, the acceptance of geographic information system (GIS) or other information technologies/information software (IT/IS) tool-based approaches of analysis in the geography field may be of most importance. Therefore, also, this represents an important implication for the research area.

Growing importance of sustainable development, corporate social responsibility and business ethics requires various types of contemporary organisations innovation. This research assesses the problem related to business policy innovation (BPI), which represents organisational governance determination. The main purpose of the paper is to qualitatively and quantitatively present a new, requisitely holistic strategic model of the soft factors influencing BPI, which interdependently incorporates changes in organisational values, culture and business ethics, as well as stakeholders’ interests reconciliation, thus determine soft possibilities for more sustainable business policy, management and practice. While the relevance of these factors for business policy is in the literature widely recognized, there is a small amount of empirical research on their influence on BPI. To mitigate this research gap, advanced structural equation modelling (SEM) based partial least squares (PLS) method was used for analysing data of 734 organisations in Slovenia, the EU state. The research results show that researched soft factors organisational values, culture and stakeholders’ interests reconciliation statistically confirmed influence BPI. Thus, these recognitions can be used as the basis for strategic managerial decision making towards social responsibility and sustainability of an organisation. Reasons why it has not been statistically confirmed that business ethics influence BPI needs to be investigated in future research.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to prove that it is possible and necessary that higher education institutions develop appropriate competencies of students during the learning process as required by the practice if teachers use the systemic approach and cybernetics knowledge. The authors especially research the importance of competence entrepreneurship and how to stimulate entrepreneurship by developing competencies of creativity, teamwork and communication. Design/methodology/approach Based on systems theory, transversal competencies entrepreneurship, creativity, teamwork and communication, as well as their interdependence, were requisitely holistic selected. In the selection of diverse contemporary learning methods, the authors started from an action research approach that implies learning by doing, i.e. participation of students. With the use of statistical methods, the authors showed that a cyber-systemic requisite holistic learning action approach based on interdependence of teacher and students learning process results in innovation of researched transversal competencies. Findings Based on two quantitative and qualitative researches of 96 students’ competencies, the authors found out that when using contemporary learning methods, the desired results can be achieved. In described learning process everyone involved gained: both the teacher and the students. Research limitations/implications The survey does not include verifying the usefulness of developed competencies in practice. Also, the study only covers the findings of the research study of one academic year. Practical implications The research is important for the practice of higher education, as it demonstrates that the teacher is with a targeted focus on the selected viewpoints able to effectively improve students’ competencies. Social implications If higher education’s institutions take a strategic decision to target improvement of the transversal competencies of students, they will be easier and faster to employ, and practice will get more relevant employees. The economy will be more efficient and effective. Originality/value According to the authors’ knowledge, no research measures the development of selected transversal competencies using the contemporary learning methods, based on cyber-systemic learning action approach. The authors found out that the methods used have influenced the final results, which show that all measured students’ transversal competencies have improved.

Purpose Research in the field of openness has become very broad and, unfortunately, also opaque. Thus, the purpose of this paper was to analyse and map the trends by applying bibliometric tools to the scientific literature published between 1990 and 2015, for descriptive bibliometric analysis, and 2011 to 2015, for content analysis. Design/methodology/approach A bibliometric analysis was used to identify document types, most prolific institutions, countries, source titles and Web of Science categories in the field of openness. Furthermore, bibliometric mapping was performed to discover country and institutional cooperation networks and to be able to understand funding opportunities for openness and information technology research. Additionally, with content analysis, scientific landscape was produced with most prolific terms and their chronological evolution through time. Findings The first information sources were published in 1990, and production was steady until 1998. After that period, the growth becomes exponential for the total number of information sources, as well as articles and proceedings papers, with a slight decrease in growth between 2009 and 2011. Descriptive bibliometric analysis showed that the most productive countries were the USA, the UK, Germany, China, Italy and Spain. Originality/value This paper presents the first holistic bibliometric analysis of the literature production concerning openness in relation to information and communication technology which helps researchers in the field to better understand the relations between themes and outsiders to get an overview of the openness scientific landscape.
