Jorge Padrão (JP) is Junior Researcher at Centre for Textile Science and Technology (2C2T), University of Minho, Portugal. JP possess a Graduation in Applied Biology (2006) and a PhD degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering (2014), both at the University of Minho. JP has an eclectic and multidisciplinary know how on fibrous materials, encompassing industrial microbial biotechnology for heterologous protein-based fiber production, electrospinning, wet-spinning and is an expert in bacterial nanocellulose (BNC - a 100 % highly crystalline cellulose nonwoven fabric produced by bacteria). JP has a particular vast experience in Microbiology (virus, bacteria, yeasts and filamentous fungi), and his inventive capabilities were essential for the development of novel protocols and in the adaptation of methodologies for the assessment of fibrous materials antimicrobial properties, as well as their biocompatibility. JP was Co-Supervisor of 5 MSc Theses and Supervised 1 BsC project Thesis. JP International work experience encompasses University de La Frontera (Chile) and University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain).
