Francesca Micoli received her Ph.D. in industrial organic chemistry at the University of Florence, Italy, in 2006. Her research on bacterial vaccines against AMR pathogens mainly affects impoverished communities. Since 2020, she has been Senior Project Leader for the Shigella project at GSK Vaccines Institute for Global Health (Siena, Italy) and is now also Director of the Innovation Academy, working on innovative technology platforms for vaccine development. She is a board member of the MRC-funded BactiVac, the first bacterial vaccine network, with a LMIC-centric focus.
