Graduated in Medicine at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), specialization in Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (UFRJ) and in Family and Community Medicine at the Brazilian Society of Family and Community Medicine & Brazilian Medical Association. Master's degree in Public Health (Epidemiology) (UFRJ), and PhD in Medical Sciences (Epidemiology and Health Assessment) at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC). I'm working as a Professor at the School of Medicine in the UFC - Associate Professor at UFC (School of Medicine, Department of Community Health). Former coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Public Health (academic master's degree and PhD) at UFC. My main research interest is in Public Health and Epidemiology: neglected diseases (surveillance and control) with emphasis on Chagas disease, leprosy, schistosomiasis, and leishmaniasis. In all projects, social, and environmental determinants of health, vulnerabilities, and health inequalities are included. Focus on methods of health systems research, implementation research and operational research. Member of the Brazilian Association of Collective Health (ABRASCO) and Brazilian Society of Tropical Medicine (SBMT). Associate Editor of Cadernos de Saúde Pública (ENSP-Fiocruz), Cadernos Saúde Coletiva (IESC-UFRJ), Revista Brasileira de Medicina de Família e Comunidade (SBMFC) and PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases (PLoS).
