Dr. Patricia P. Reis is an Associate Professor at the Department of Surgery and Orthopedics, Faculty of Medicine, São Paulo State University (UNESP). She completed her Master’s (1997) and Ph.D. (2001) in Biological Sciences with a Major in Genetics from UNESP, Brazil. From 2002 to 2005, she was awarded a Postdoctoral Fellowship on Biomarkers of Recurrence in Oral Cancer, from the University Health Network at Princess Margaret Cancer Center, where she was then hired as a Scientific Associate (2005-2011). In April 2011, she became an Assistant Professor at the Department of Surgery and Orthopedics, Faculty of Medicine, UNESP, Botucatu, SP, Brazil, and was promoted to Associate Professor in Molecular Oncology in 2019. She leads a research team working on Translational Medicine with a focus on Molecular Oncology. Her team's goals are the identification of clinically applicable biomarkers to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of chronic degenerative diseases, mainly lung cancer and brain metastasis, which are leading causes of patient morbidity and mortality worldwide.
